Our DJ was flexible - we do want to give him a list of songs we really want to hear.... Truthfully, it's our wedding, I would rather the person we hire play the stuff play we want rather than leave it all up to him. However, if the DJ does what he does well, he will need some control over the songs so he can play stuff according to the mood, crowd etc. A good DJ makes or breaks a party and I would want the DJ to be free to work the crowd so everyone is dancing at one point or another. Our DJ gave us his song list and we are going to highlight the stuff we like, making a special note of the 'absolutely have to hear' songs as well as the 'please DON'T play this!'...I'm sure with all that is going on that day, I will not be tuned into every song anyway so it's about what the guests will enjoy too. Believe me, we could rack up a list and control it right down to the order of play but why create another thing to take on? Good luck, try to have fun with it.
I'm meeting with my DJ tonight and I was wondering how many songs I can actually request? Upon my initial meeting they seemed to discourage giving an actual list of songs. They said just to give the type of music you want and list some favorite artists and songs. Just wondering how many is too many because my fiance is very particular about his music :)
