glassess/contacts

I am already worried that down the road I will not be able to wear contacts for my wedding. I never wear them and just the thought of contacts or touching my eye makes me sick! LOL. is it bad to wear rimless glassess on ur wedding day or for photos. I dont want it to look bad yet I would be blind as a bat!! If anyone has wedding pics with glassess can u please post, and did u have to give ur photographer/videographer any special info due to the glare they might cause??

i wear glasses, and i am not sure if i can wear contacts either, but i don't want to wear glasses on my wedding day. so i think i am going to go for contacts and pray that it works out. i have talked to people who told me they felt the same way i do and now they love them.

when I met with my photographer he noticed that I was wearing glasses and he said if I was going to wear them that I should get them sprayed with some anti glare spray!

What I did because I didnt want to wear glasses for my MOHs wedding, was I got contacts almost 10 months before the wedding! I slowly got used to them! (I had big issues touching my eye. I had to actually practice touching my eye before they would give them to me!)

Now I can get them in with ease even though I only wear them maybe 4 days out of a month!

I say go get them and try them and then make your decision you both have enough time to try them and if they dont work you always have the other option!

MuchInLuvMichi, me too! When I try to touch my eyes I get nausated.

I posted this same problem a couple of months ago. I am still working up the courage to try contacts again (I tried them 10 years ago and it didn't work out.)

A lot has changed in those years.. i hear RGP... rigid gas permible (sp) meaning they are tiny, semi hard and just suck on to your eye. They 'pop' out when you pull the skin by your eye..

I like it cause I dont TOUCH my eyes.

Soft contacts feel strange and squishy to me. I wear them when I have to wait for mine to come in (when I lose one at least once every 3 years! I get careless) It takes me about a day or so to get used to soft contacts but I STILL have issues pinching them out of my eye... eww.

Awwwwwww- thanks so much for saying I looked nice! That was me with the glasses. To be honest, I was so nervous about wearing them and seeing how I looked in pictures but it looked fine. The only thing I did was get the anti-glare on them and that helped alot. I would really recommend that. I cannot wear contacts - I've tried a million times but they just don't work for my eyes. Don't force yourself - do what works best for you. I took my glasses off for a bunch of posed pictures but I was NOT going to walk down the aisle blind! I wanted to see everything! Good luck!!

Here are my pics:

Re: glassess/contacts

My sister is an eye doc, and she is fitting me for contacts and I used to wear them and hated them they would dry out a lot, rip etc. She told me a lot has changed since I wore them I will let one know, She ordered me a trial pair and they froze while being shipped!!! So now I have to wait for the new ones to come in. I was at jodijohns wedding and she looked beautiful with her glasses on.

i put drops in my eyes b4 i put my contacts in and it really helps for allergies. its called patenol. i used to hate wearing my contacts but now it is much better, less itchy and dry. you should ask your eye doctor about it, for those who have eye allergies.

Im going to the eyeMD on Tuesday for this exact reason. By the time the wedding comes, I want to be totally comfortable with contacts. So far everyone I have spoken to says the same thing 'at first the thought of touching my eye.... and now its so easy' Not only do I not want glasses on in the pics, but several other reasons as well, going ot on the weekends, the honeymoon, and I am blind without them!! Its time.

amy that was my thought! I like myself with glasses but there are sometimes that I want to be able to see yet I dont want to wear them!!! (and I am getting mroe and more blind as the time goes by)

I love the options that contacts allows me! I dont wear them often but I love knowing I can if I want to!!

I was one who couldnt touch my eye at all! I had trouble putting eyeliner on! Now, it may take me 2 tries to get the contact in comfortably but then its at least 10 hours before they get dry or bother me, of clear seeing that I feel like I have perfect vision again!!!

Re: glassess/contacts

I've been wearing contacts for 20 years - since I was 11. A LOT has changed over the years - even recent years...

They take some getting used to but they are a great option/alternative. The daily wear ones are super thin - cause you throw them out after each wear and I hear they're super comfy.

Just carry drops and ALWAYS carry your glasses and a lense case with you for the 'just in case' moments. My eyes tend to get drier as the work day goes on (computer)...

Re: glassess/contacts

my lenses get very dry as the day goes on.....but i've been wearing them for 13 years and they do get easier to wear as time goes on.
when i first tried them i turned green and almost passed out (seriously) at the eye doctor trying to take them out of my eyes.
it takes some getting used to.
but there is also no reason that you can't wear glasses that day!! it will look like you in your pictures at least!

Re: glassess/contacts

I was in the same boat about glasses for thw wedding. I had tried a while back but could not get the contacts in. The doctor and I were hysterical laughing because everytime he almost had it in I'd blink or shut my eye.

About one month before my wedding I went back and the doctor had an assistant sit down with me a teach me how to put them in. After about 1/2 hour I finally got them in. It was freaky but I got used to them.

My doctor was great. He ordered three different kinds of lenses for me to try becuase I can't use the disposables (I have astigmatism) and let me choose the ones I felt most comfortable in. He even said that he'd come to my house the day of the wedding if I couldn't get the lenses in myself! He's a doll!

I'm still getting used to them and will probably only use them for special occassions and when I'm going out. My glasses are just to much of a security blanket!
