Hello all! I was wondering if anyone has had or been to a wedding at the Glen Cove Mansion that had around 200 guests. I went to see it this weekend and I had a hard time envisioning that many people sitting and dancing in the Garden Dining Room comfortably. Would love to hear about anyone's experience, thanks!

I never went to a wedding there but I did go and look at it and I really wasn't that impressed...I think I remember the room being oddly shaped or something.

Yeah, it was a weird shape and the carpeting in the room was hideous. Despite the shape of the room, it just seems way too small for that many people anyway. I'm just really bummed I guess because I really thought I was going to love it and that it was going to be 'the one'. I really liked everything else and the woman who showed us around was fantastic.

I actually saw de Seversky the same day. It's probably the most beautiful place that I had seen on the outside. I have around 200 guests so I would have to do European style. The girl who showed me around described the 'flow' of the reception and I couldn't get over the closing down this area and then opening this part up stuff. It just seemed like everyone was going to be ushered around like cattle. The room attached to that sun room I found very unappealing. I don't get why they don't just do it over instead of making me pay extra to cover it with curtains and uplighting. If I had a smaller guest count to have a traditional style I think I would've felt different though. At this point the Woodlands is my #1 choice. Other mansions I've seen have been on country clubs that cost over $200pp or you have to bring everything in from the outside. I'm trying to keep the RH in Nassau County so any other suggestions I'd appreciate!

Have you checked out The Royalton? I was also looking for a mansion feel and I was about to book with the Woodlands until I saw The Royalton. I know I might be bias but as soon as I walked in I knew it was the place! I'm pretty sure the price was under $200 for October.

A good friend of mine just had her wedding at the Royalton so I really couldn't even consider it. Very nice btw. Growing up I always wanted to have mine at Old Westbury Gardens, which is why de Seversky and GC Mansion were my top picks in the beginning. I mean your jaw literally drops when you see those places. I think the Woodlands is gorgeous inside, but I don't get that 'OMG!!' seeing it from the outside. I'm going back to see it set up on Friday night for a wedding, so let's see what happens. Thanks for the advice.

I had the wow feeling when I drove down the long driveway to the Woodlands at night...seeing it framed at the end of the driveway was just gorgeous, especially all lit up at night. There is such an intimate, elegant feeling....keep me posted on where you choose!!

Re: Glen Cove Mansion
i decided to not use the back two rooms - but i have alot less people than you do. went to a tasting last year in the back dining room - and at night, it really wasnt bad. my opinion on it totally changed. i started thinking it would be nice to have cocktail hour there - but we dont need that much room for my guests.
