Glen Cove Mansion, anyone?

Glen Cove Mansion, anyone?

Hi!
My fiancee and I are seriously considering getting married this June at Glen Cove Mansion. We saw it recently and it seemed pretty, with great staff. I know the ballroom is a little oblong, but isn't terrible.
Anyone have their wedding there or know someone who has?

Thanks so much for any help!!

Re: Glen Cove Mansion, anyone?

I was just at a wedding there in the summer.

The reception was out doors it was a little hot but very pretty.

I believe that they tried to get the price down by forgoing alot of food during cocktail hour. but the little food that we did have like the passed hourdeors were amazing! The other problem with cocktail hour was it was mostly standing only . there was room for tables but there were only like 3 tables in the 2 rooms that were cocktail rooms.
I would sugest having all the food in the smaller room and having them put all tables in the larger cocktail room.

The food at dinner was very good.

The room it self was not too bad of a set up. the only thing i though was weird was it seemed like the dias was almost on the dance floor.

the way they did it was all friends were on one side and all family was on the other. they were on the family side but facing the friends side so they kida had there back to there family.

but it was a beautful place and i would recomend it. the sevice was good , every one was very nice.

Re: Glen Cove Mansion, anyone?

Im going to give my raw and UN edited opinion on this place!! Sorry if I offend any past, present, or future brides!

Ok SO I had an appointment there back in September when I began looking at halls. I accidentally put it in my phone for 3pm, but it was in fact 2pm. So I showed up there at 3pm. I checked in with the concierge who was quite pleasant. So they told me to wait and they would get the catering manager(whose name I believe was Dena). So walking down the hall comes this older lady with a couple. She says who are you. So I tell her. Then she says and who area you here for. I said her name...and she replies with 'that is me and what can I do for you.' (with an attitude). I said I am your 3pm...and she replies really? Because I am with my 3pm and your are my 2pm and your late so your just gonna have to wait. (This was all said in front of her 3pm which i thought was rather distasteful). So my FH immediately said this lady is crazy if she thinks im giving her a penny. I pleaded to look at the ballroom with my FH and when I walked in all I could think was Barney the dinosaur( you know the green and purple one) was slaughtered all over the carpet. I then proceed to tell my FH that I wanted to give this wrench a piece of my mind, but he dragged me out of there. I just found it such bad costumer service to speak to a potential couple who is going to book there for $40,000 plus. As a catering manager their job is to kiss your A$$ and make your wedding process less stressful. If this is how she started out I couldn't even imagine how much of a hard time she would give during the rest of the process with them.

This is just my experience! Glad I had it because I love my venue and my catering manager is a doll.

As far as the room goes I feel that the odd shaped ballroom would make the guests feel like they were left out if they weren't in the main portion. That is a huge turnoff. If that place fixed their ballroom and got better catering managers they couldn't undoubtedly charge an arm and a leg.

Hope this helps and doesn't make your process more difficult!

I thought I was going to love glen cove mansion when we went to go look...and this was not the case.

I also had a terrible costumer service expierence and thought the room was a little strange. They were also very pricey for not too much.

If you like the idea and look of glen cove mansion please take the time to go see Eric at De Seversky. It is on NYIT campus and pricing is much better and so is the service. I only looked at masions b/c I knew that this is what I wanted and I feel in love right away. It is worth a look...obv everyone is different but I say look everywhere so you know!

FH is at Glen Cove Mansion right now for his winter meeting, but I doubt they are in the ballroom.

I was dead set to have my wedding there - I thought it looked amazing. Two things made me change my mind - first was the I thought the customer service was not so great and second - we expected more than 200 guests and I did not want people seated in that outer area. Although they say they fit up to 250 - I didn't want people to feel like they were not part of the party.
