Glen Island brides - negotiatons?

Hello all!

I am new to this forum and I got engaged last October. We waited until the weather got nicer to finally look at venues, and right now we've seen:

1. Glen Island Harbour Club - I LOVE IT. Please see below.

2. Surf Club in New Rochelle - not my type of thing, but really nice for what it is.

3. Greentree Country Club - shockingly bad! the house is plain, dated, in heavy need of some upgrading... and the scenery is like something out of a trailer park...you look out the window and there is a 4ft deep kiddie pool fenced in with metal chain fences. HIDEOUS AND NOT ROMANTIC!!! I was really surprised at how ugly this place is, especially after reading many positive reviews about it. The owner was really nice though.

Glen Island is perfect. The location is convenient and central, it's off on its own island, the chapel room is breathtakingly gorgeous, AND you don't have to worry about weather. I am really strongly considering this place, though we are looking at more places. I would just like to know from GI brides - were you able to negotiate on price at all or are they very no-budge about it? We're thinking of doing the Saturday afternoon wedding in July (evening is just way out of our budget). Has anyone been able to negotiate with them? If so, what did you do?

I got married last June at Glen Island, the price was not negotiable at all but I must say that they did throw in extras during cocktail and the reception that I didnt pay for. Whatever we spent was well worth it, the food was amazing, the staff was amazing, our Maitre'D was so great to us. Our Banquet Manager was so helpful, from the day we went to take a look at the place until the minute our wedding ended, he was there to help!

We got amazing pics outside and inside, I did decide to get married on a Sunday instead of Saturday bc there was a $45pp price difference.

I believe in the saying 'you get what you pay for' and we were treated and given the best! Good Luck, if you have any other ?? about GI, please FM me
