Glen Island Harbour Club

Hey girls,

Any comments (good or bad) on the GIHC? If you don't want to post negative comments, please FM me!!

Thanks for your help - picking a reception hall is stressing me!

Well, it depends on what kind of reception you are looking for. I went to see the GIHC and I didn't think the inside was as elegant as I thought it would be. Everything is plain. You would have to decorate yourself. The view is beautiful though. The menu wasn't too great. not many choices.

One thing I've heard a lot of complaints about is that you have to use one of their recomended florists, who are VERY pricey and not always accomodating.

One of my BM's got married there last October. It was great! I really liked it. She had a Viennese (?) hour and it was awesome!!

I am getting married at Glen Island Harbor Club. I think it is beautiful. It is understated but in my opinion very elegant. We went to a wedding there in 2002 and i have 3 friends who all just went to weddings there....(before we booked ours) and they all came back w/ wonderful reviews! The food is great and they give you a lot of choices.
FM is you want and i would be happy to answer questions!!!

One of my BM's got married there in June 2002 and I thought that it was beautiful. She has some AMAZING pictures that were taken there. Another friend of mine is getting married there this summer...that is the only reason that we didn't look there.

Re: Glen Island Harbour Club

I am getting married there this July and couldn't be more excited. I looked at 30 places, so I definitely have seen it all. GIHC is on the understated side but very elegant. I'd also seen some places that were more flashy but that just wasn't for us. It really depends on what style you are going for. The menu is great and there are actually tons of choices. We had our tasting a few months ago and both our parents (who are VERY critical when it comes to food) were floored. The downside is that you do have to use one of the 2 house florists. The upside is that the view is amazing, particularly if you are also looking to have your ceremony there. Hope this helps!

ETA: The staff at GIHC is incredible and so helpful. GIHC is located in a private park--you need to be a Westchester resident to use it. This usually isn't a problem for taking pics, but it does help to get a permit.

Re: Glen Island Harbour Club

Just an FYI, there are other beautiful clubs in New Rochelle on the water that are a little less exensive than Glen Island. Surf Club probably has similar prices, but Greentree (which is an old mansion), VIP (that I think is beautiful-great ceremony site) and Beckwithe Point (has the best view of all of them because it's the last one on the strip) are less $$.
