Glenn Island / Old Field Club / Inn at NHP

Hello ladies! I was hoping I could get some input about these RHs from brides planning weddings here or others who have been to weddings here. I realize all three venues are quite different from each other, but each have qualities that I have been looking for in a RH. FH and I have already visited 15 halls, including these three, and I’m wondering if any one place will really have everything I am looking for. Any advice? Do I need to be more compromising? How many halls did you look at before you found 'the one'? Thanks in advance!

I look at about 12 different halls, I eventually had to compromise but I love my hall.

I would check out the Bride Review page and see some reviews.

Old Field Club is beauitful, food is good, I think its classic and chic, nothing over the top, just right.

Never been to Glenn Island

My cousin is getting married at the Inn at NHP and so far she has rave reviews. They just redid everything too so that's nice.

we looked at the inn at new hyde park and its really beautiful. Our e-party was this past weekend there and the food was VERY good.

the only thing that bothered me about it was that there is too much going on. FH and I wanted a place with only 1 wedding at a time. Inn at NHP does only one wedding, but they have many other events going on in their other smaller rooms. Seemed to crazy. When we were leaving our e-party there was a bride trying to take her pics and soooo many people from other functions wandering around. Thats why we didn't go with it...but if you aren't set on 1 event at a time then its def a great place.

what is most important to you? food, decor, service, drinks, price??

here are some reasons why i like THE INN:

great food

great menu (guests choose from 7 items)

90 minute CH

GORGEOUS ballroom

extensive liquor/beer selection

HUGE bridal suite (im getting ready there)

on site bed and breakfast for FH and i to stay the night of

brand new, so all of our guests havent been there before

frank (the owner) has been in the business forever and he knows what he's doing, they thought of a million little touches i would have ever thought of (umm, the valets leave chocolate in the guests cars)

let me know if you have any questions!

we saw about 5 places, but as soon as we saw the INN we knew we had to book it since it booking REALLY fast.

i noticed this also when we went to look at the place. there was a wedding going on, and people in and out of the restaurant.

but they are building a separate entrance to the CH room, so the wedding guests enter there and they will have the back stairs down to the ballroom. this is to alleviate that problem...

Thanks, everyone! I have concerns about each - but maybe I am overthinking. Glenn Island, I am worried about the suggested hotels to stay in the area, that they do two weddings at a time. Old Field is on the smaller side and I am reluctant to actually have the MAX # of guests there. I am also not crazy about the street-side location of the Inn, but it seems to have everything else going for it!! I absolutely got the chills when I saw the banquet room. Luckiestelc, how many people are you having and what is your min guarantee, if you don't mind me asking? Thanks!

We looked at about 6 other places and when I drove up to my RH for the first time, I just had a feeling it was the one. Then I went inside and I was SURE. I didn't have to even consider one over the other. GL!

I got the chills when I walked into the ballroom at the INN! Thats how I knew. FH and I saw about 5 RH before we booked.
We absolutely LOVE that place. I have heard nothing but amazing reviews about the place. They truely think of every detail.
There is alot of commotion in the front of the inn, near the restaurant but they are builing a seperate entrance for the weddings guest, so that will fix the problem.
The ballroom holds up to 400 people, and what I love is that they have round tables!!! if you want more info, FM me.
FYI- if your seriously thinking about booking them, I would act fast, since they only do 1 wedding at a time, the book quickly!

Hi!! We looked at about 30 venues before we decided that the Old Field Club was the one!! I love the place and the food is amazing. Initially, we thought we were going to get married at NYIT's de Seversky center, but once we saw OFC we changed our minds. I feel like it has such an understated elegance and that it's chic w/out being ostentatious. I do agree that it really matters on the # of guests you're having, but if you're having up to 160ppl I still think it would be comfortable there. I hope that helps, and please feel free to FM me if you have any other questions.

i've been to two weddings at glen island. it's a lovely place for a summer/early fall wedding. i really enjoyed their dessert too, lol (u get three mini desserts on one plate-yummers) the only thing i didn't like was that their beautiful ceremony room that overlooked the water on one side, overlooked a parking lot on the other side

The Inn was the most beautiful place we saw.As soon as I stepped in I knew it was the place. EVERYTHING is gorgeous...the bridals suite, Bed and breakfast house, garden, the patio, the CH rooms, the ballroom (huge windows that i love, and detail in design and molding). If your looking for something new, elegant and classic NHP is for you

I looked at all of these except the OFC and actually went back two times to each with the intention of booking. However, we heard of Giorgio's in Baiting Hollow and decided to check it out and meet with the owner, George Sr., and my fiance and I flipped over the place and loved everything about it and booked our wedding there..It seems we have the same 'taste' in RH's, so if I were you I would definitely check out Giorgio's before booking anything. Its one wedding at a time, beautiful setting and interior, very private, and I've only heard great things from everyone who's been to a weddning there. Definitely worth checking out!
