God works in INCREDIBLE ways (LONG)
I have been stressing out lately about little wedding details, now that it's getting down to the wire. A very good friend of mine told me today 'It's about you and Brian, nothing else matters'. While I agreed, I still continued to worry too much about the little things. Just now, I was sending an email at work, and I knew it was important so I wanted to save/archive it. When I went into my archive, however, it wasnt there. I realized I couldn't see it because I didn't have a 'sent' folder. So I created one, and in it I found a whole bunch of emails that I sent a long time ago, including this one that I sent to my fiance' on August 11th of 2000. He used to work in the World Trade Center. He was there through everything. I remembered that I had written this but never knew that I saved it until just now. This, to me, is a tremendous message from God saying 'Stop worrying about the little things, what matters is you and Brian'. I'm floored...
It's called 'The Tower'.
One upon a time, there was a young maiden whose heart was struck by Cupid's arrow. She was chosen to fall in love with a gallant and handsome young man. This man, however, caused the maiden great worry and grief. You see, her lover was ordained by society to spend his days at work high up in a tower. This tower was so immense that its peak was often lost in the clouds. The young maiden fretted every day that her love was trapped in this tower, because it was of such massive proportions that she was unable to reach him. The tower had a mind of its own as well... a fearful reputation, often frought by terrorists and faulty mechanisms. Worry nearly drove the maiden to madness. To ponder living her life without her prince would be of unimaginable despair; a life not worth living. She cried, and begged, and pleaded with her lover to defy the wrath of the tower and choose a life less dangerous. A life where they could lose one another in their passion. A life where he would be safe and satisfactorily productive working much closer to the ground. Alas, he declined her desperate attempts to persuade him to abandon the tower, insisting that he must carry out his duties. He tried to comfort her all the while, ensuring her that he would be careful and not let the tower release any of its maliciousness upon him. The maiden would never rest easily nonetheless. She sat, day after day, and prayed to the gods to have mercy on her lover's soul, and protect him throughout the duration of his stay in the tower. She knew deep inside, that one day the need for her prince to journey into the tower would be over. She vowed to work hard herself, so that one day she could surround him with cedar walls, high ceilings, vastly large panes of glass, and a wide array of flora and fauna. One day they would create a beautiful life together, a perfect oasis of love and contentment, where the only tower would be the highest peaks of their hearts. Until that day comes, she will continue to breathe deeply when she thinks of her lover trapped in the tower; hoping that he would somehow feel the resonance of air flowing through her lungs and the blood pumping through her veins just by knowing she is out there in the world.. loving him with all that she is.
