I would only spend a day or 2 in Dublin....it's basically just a small city without much to do....go to the WIcklow Mountains (outside of Dublin...you can take the DART - Dublin Area Rapid Transit from the Tara Street station which is right off O'Connell Street). Go to a cute little town called Bray. I would also highly recommend Powerscourt Gardens and falls just outside Dublin.
Kinsale is a lovely little seaside town and very classically Irish.
Galway is a must!
Try to get to the North if you can.

I live in Dublin for 5 years, so if you want more advice, feel free to FM me...I'll try to figure out how to get it!

Have a fantastic trip!!!

Another q please: How's the driving with and without stick shift? Neither one of us can drive stick, only automatic. AND driving is on the OTHER side of the road.....

Also, I hear gas is like super expensive, is this true? Is it worth it to rent a car or should we rely on other modes of transportation?

The driving isnt terrible but yes, it is expensive. Depending on where your staying they have a bus service. I stayed outside of Dublin for 3 days then went and stayed in dublin for a couple of days and when i was in the town outside of dublin they had a bus service. Rent the car to get from the airport to the hotel and then just take the bus when you can and it will save you on Gas. Plus they give you 4cyl cars so gas doesnt go that quick! Again the driving is fine, i little weird but its fun

My brother is a chef at the newly renovated (but very historical) Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin, right across from St. Stephan's Green. Have a drink in the Horseshoe Bar & eat at the Saddle Room!
