Okay so I am finding out that September 5, 2010 is a very popular weekend to get married because EVERYTHING I WANTED IS BOOKED!!
But the main reason why I am writing is because I was very interested in Katie Lyman photography. I emailed her 5 days ago, no response. Fh called her yesterday and left a message, no response. I called today and left her a message, still no response. Am I wrong to think this is very unprofessional?? Did anyone use her or is planning on using her? did you have a problem getting in touch with her?

My rule of thumb is five days. If you don't get back to me, using the same medium I used (if I email, email back, if i called call back etc), then you're off my list. I've eliminated a ton of vendors that way!

I think she may be booked since its a popular weekend...but either way you should receive a response back regardless. There are sooo many talented photographers out there so maybe look into someone else. You still ahve plenty of time.

My personal advice-- if it is taking this long too respond for a potential new client... it is probably taking this long for her to return calls as well once you book her. We had the same issue at the beginning, but then we liked the photographer after our meeting so we booked him anyways. Long story short, we recently switched photographers 3 months before the wedding b/c we weren't gettting a reponse back from him after multiple phone calls and emails.

Yep...ITA with this. I've done it as well. My time is just as precious and let's be honest, they are a service provider. If they aren't reliable, dependable, at first encounter, then I would totally pass. How could you expect them to be reliable on your wedding day?

i didnt use her, but this does sound a bit unprofessional. if you do book with her, is it going to be this hard to get in touch with her??? hmmm, not what i would want... good luck tho!
