Going back to the beginning...

Going back to the beginning...

Ok so i've seen over 15 places not including places i've called.

Here is my list.

1. Jericho Terrace Great food, Great BM not much out door, larger catering hall.
2. Fox Hollow – Ceremony near turnpike FH said it’s too noisy
3.Woodbury Country Club – Very nice grounds, didn’t love the room but really not a bad place or bad pricing. Not a bad place at all
4.Westbury Manor – Too busy FH hated it
5.Swan Club - beautiful gardens great for pics great price very small room located very close to lobby which is also small. Ceremony ok but its doable. I really want a place we can PARTYY and I feel like i'd worry about noise
6. Greentree country club – got a refund LOL wasn’t so bad at all but I just, I don’t know what I just…. I just couldn’t lol
7. VIP - pretty. Pricing ok. “restaurant” feel not bad just another just don’t know…..
8. Surf Club - beautiful but very stuck up aholes. So that’s a no no
9.Beckwith Pointe- very nice, really like it. pricing is too high.
10.The Riviera- Love this place. cocktail hour room like vomit but would only have to use it if its raining. One wedding a day which is great but don’t know about pricing and min is 120. Also too far for FH family but I really Love it here.
11.Larkfield - great price pretty grounds. Would take it in a heartbeat if it wasn’t so far. Simple just a reg catering hall only prettier. Very friendly people. just a really nice simple place.
12.Chateau La Mer - my my chateau la mer LOL. outside is pretty at night. Upstairs room not so pretty. Inside very outdated. Bigger room much better but need 150 ppl going to tasting next week. Also not crazy about the yacht entrance seems kind of showy and I don’t like attention LOL
Part that bothers me is there are 2 weddings going on at once 2 hours apart they say but our people will still be sharing outside after they are done with cocktails. don't know how i feel about that.

SOOOOOOOO sorry this is so long but i needed to vent.

We are going back to Swan Club, Woodbury and Riviera and hopefully we can choose one of the three which would you choose?

We are also going to check out Olde Mill Inn in Jersey So tired so so tired

swan club is beautiful, but you do know you can have 3 events there at the same time? If your FH hated WM, Swan Club could make him insane.

and nothing is too far. If your family wants to go, they will. I've done so many events in westchester, CT & NJ, bc I wanted to be there.

I haven't seen Riviera, but everyone seems to love it :)

we almost picked swan club but we decided to go with metropolitan instead its one wedding at a time and the price is not bad. fh's family is from the city so we wanted something that wasnt too far out.If your looking for nice outdoor grounds its probably not good for you but it might be worth a try. They will give you a permit to take pictures in the park up the block if you book with them.

My aunt had her wedding at the Swan Club. The grounds were absolutely beautiful, but that's about all I can say. I thought the food was so so (and the cake they provided was awful) and we ran into the other party outside and every time I had to use the bathroom I had to wait on a line, because all three parties were using the same bathroom (plus the they were super cramped). Anyway thats just my opinion.

Re: Going back to the beginning...

Fh and I have come to that conclusion. That the people who want to be there will go whereever we decide to have it. When i first set out on this RH Journey i wanted something simple. surrounded by trees water and flowers. And somehow i've seen so many places that are so different from the other. I Loved Swan club when I first saw it but the room was so small that I was worried it wouldn't be a good place for a party.

The ceremony will be over in 30 minutes. i really want my guest to have a great time good food good music and I don't wanna sweat al lthe small stuff. But i'm sweating all the details! even the ones that noone will probably notice. i'm exhausted. i Just want a place and start on all the other stuff.

i absolutely LOVED the riviera but our guest list kept on growing and we didn't think that the place was going to hold all our guests comfortable. It also great b/c it has one wedding at a time and it's right by the water and you can have your CH there during the spring/summer/fall. I also love the different look inside.

also check out NRC

If you want the Riviera I would check on dates in May - i was there a couple weeks ago and they said most Friday and Saturdays in may of 2011 were already booked.

In the summer it can be noisy if the cocktail hr is outside. Sorry...but true. My cousins wedding was there and you could hear the cars. I didn't care but she was upset over it.

Did you look at The Woodlands? It's down the block from Fox Hollow but set very far back on a golf course with lots of trees so you don't hear Jericho Turnpike.

What's your budget? What about Inn at New hyde Park or Glen Cove Mansion? They're both gorgeous, but we don't like enough people to invite to our wedding, so we couldn't meet their minimums for our date.

This was a really hard things for FH and me to do. WE each had to find a place we loved and THEN we had to AGREEEEE and our styles are very different.... Good luck!

Re: Going back to the beginning...

I would definitely look at Giorgio's. It seems like you like the outdoors areas and you want a pretty place. Also, Giorgio's is only one event/wedding at a time. You have the whole place to yourself. The food is amazing!

I would also look at Majestic Gardens. I have never had their food but the grounds are beautiful and the price is really good.

Also, what about Lombardis on the Sound or Villa Lombardis. Food is fantastic at both, I wasn't crazy about the reception area at Lombardi's on the Sound....but I loved the cocktail hour room.

HTH good luck!
