Please tell me I'm not the only one fighting with my fiancee everynight over how much weddings cost. I think I'm going crazy.

Re: Going Crazy
sweetie, join the gang, we have had more arguments in this engagement period than we have had in our entire relationship. It seems as if my FI feel as if I make these prices up and I am only choosing expensive vendors. The bad thing is he has not done a single thing, but everything I have recommended he has something to say about it. Girl I so want this planning over that we can get on to living our lives only 53 more days

Re: Going Crazy
I think it is normal for couples to argue during this stage. Whether about planning or other things going on in our lives I think the arguing has more to do with the stress and the emotions that go along with planning a wedding and getting married. We have argued a lot too lately, not about wedding planning but my FI thinks I put too much focus on the wedding. I think the fact that I have put a lot of focus on the wedding is the reason that we have had no stress while planning. But try explaining that to him.

Re: Going Crazy
I know exactly how you girls feel. We're going through this too, on top of me not working! This is suppose to be the most happiest time??? Yeah right! Instead of being negative about how much costs (like we don't know already) they should try to sound happy about it! It's just bringing me down about the whole wedding thing. Costs wise! It's like I get all excited over something, and then, what does he say... how much is it, or we can't afford that! AAAAAaaaaaaaaaahhh!

Re: Going Crazy
Everytime I realize how much something is going to cost- I offer to elope, then we start arguing. I guess this is normal

Re: Going Crazy
We don't fight but Scott will ask me to keep costs low for a certain item if we are running over on something else. Of course, sometimes I cannot always do that But bascially we want the same kind of wedding and he knows how much that will cost. I think you need to talk a lot about realistically setting your budget. That will help cut down on fights.

Re: Going Crazy
Bluebaby, does this help? Hope it makes you laugh. Remember that the littlest of details will not matter on the day of your wedding since no one will notice but you. I have been reminding myself of that since day 1!
You think fighting about the wedding is bad? Wait till you start having fights about the cost of houses!
I, unfortunately am fighting about both on a weekly basis.
Just part of being young and starting life together.

Re: Going Crazy
I dont think anyone understands how stressful and hard it is to plan your wedding, it is a fulltime job. We have been fighting alot too. It got really bad the other night, and we finally got to a point that we agreed not to fight, not to get mad at each other over money, and just let everything fall into place...hopefully that works, it has for the past few days, but who knows???

Re: Going Crazy
Wanna hear the worst? I didn't tell my FH any costs! I saved up a bunch of money and am using it up slowly but surely....he is covering the reception fees, and I am dealing w. the vendors. He has been very hands off. I chose everything, booked everything, cancelled everything, and re-booked everything! All in 9 months!!! We work together, so any more fighting than we already have will land us in divorce court before I get to wear my dress. We haven't had a fight yet over the wedding- it's actually been the most stress-free time relationship wise. I realized early on - he doesnt even KNOW the difference between high centerpieces and low ones, and he isn't interested in strings vs. trumpets for the ceremony music....so I left him out of it. Working out nicely! (so far......5 months to go!)

Re: Going Crazy
Unfortunately, it continues into marriage (although not nearly as much.) My solution to this problem was and is, if he does not like the prices, tell him to either go out and find a better price himself, or accept my choices. It is usually a win/win situation: either, he will keep quiet, or he finds a better price. Most of the time, my husband opts for choice #1, the lazy boy that he is
