Hofstra University has a hall to hold events in its really nice!! pics in my album(engagement party), i forget the name, and i dont really now how much $$ because my parents paid but if your interested FM me and ill get you more info!
oh and the food was sooo good!

Check out local Knights of Columbus, Fire Houses and the like - you have to do alot of the work but that could cut down costs.
Maybe do a brunch some place - that could be cheap. Check out a local restaurant and see if they have a room you can use. Even local bars that serve food - you could do cocktails and appetizers.

irish coffee pub is a good one! i wanted to look there but FH was set on on our place
we just booked at Portico's in Hauppauge
are you looking for dinner?
or dinner & dancing?
Portico's has both options- we are doing private room with DJ and the price was good too!
