going dress shopping

Hi Ladies: I think I have to start thinking about my dress. I'm so freaking out!!! I got some names of places from you, but don't know what to expect. How was it for you? Did you just know? Did you keep on looking after you tried on one you liked? I see some of you took pictures, do places normally allow this? How easy is it to go back to a place and get the dress you liked?

Re: going dress shopping

This was my experience dress shopping:

I found a few dresses that I really liked. I was convinced that one of them was, 'the one,' (Mom cried and I got teary eyed too) until I went to a Kleinfeld sample sale and ended up buying my gown! It was actually a Really hard decision for me to make b/c my Mom wasn't there, and b/c I had to either buy my dress on the spot for half price, or buy it another day for full price. I finally decided to buy it right then and there, and after the shock wore off - I was glad I did! I stopped trying on dresses after I bought mine. (Otherwise, I would have driven myself nuts!)

I was told to always have a picture of your #1 choice in you mind. This will be the dress that you compare all of the others to, until another dress becomes #1. (This way, you don't get confused about dresses.)

Some places will let you take pictures, others won't (although you could try sneaking shots if you're alone in the dressing room).

You can visit the same salons numerous times. (Unless it's a one day sample sale) they don't expect you to make a decision on the spot. Don't feel pressured!

Also, don't freak out! Dress shopping is fun!! Just bring along a trusted, honest family member or friend and have a blast!!
