Going Formal in August?!

Going Formal in August?!

I always planned and envisioned my October wedding which as I booked yesterday had to become an August wedding instead which means trading crisp, cool autumn air for humid and hot air. I refuse to have to give up the look, feel and elegance of the wedding I have planned in my head for years. So how much are my bridesmaids going to hate me wearing long dresses? Our cocktail hour will be outdoors (weather permitting) however it is BOTH outdoors AND in so they can stay in the AC. How do I phrase things in terms of dress code though for my guests? I want formal. My Fh and his men will be in tuxes. I want everyone dressed up. The male guests do not need tuxes but definitely suits. I feel kind of bad doing this to guests in AUgust but I can't give up my dream...

You don't have to give up your visions! The girls could still wear long dresses but maybe a lighter material. As for your guests, I think most people will still dress up. Is it an evening wedding? You could always write 'black tie affair' or something along those lines if you're worried. I went to a wedding on the 4th of July and everyone still dressed up very nice and guys were still in suits. People should still know and realize its a wedding and to dress appropriately.

Awesome! Yeah it's an evening wedding. I'm even bedazzling my FH and his son's (Best man's) bow ties ;) Full on glam!

I'm having a wedding in June, and my bridesmaids are wearing long dresses. I chose chiffon bc it's a lighter weight fabric so they won't be dying while we are taking pics outside or during our outdoore reception. I don't know why anyone would think it would be ok to dress down just because it's august. They're still going to a wedding. But if you're worried about it, you can always put 'black tie optional' on the invitation. That lets everyone know that even if they don't want to wear black tie attire, they still need to dress up.

I went to a black tie wedding in August. I was a brdiesmaid and wore long. I didn't mind. But it was inside all of it

Do what u want its ur day - and just write black tie or black tie optional so ppl know formal

I agree with chiffon dresses since its a more lightweight material and also you can put black tie optional on the invite.
