Ok...I'm done (almost!) I have been on it for the better part of 11 years. I want to go off it at the end of the month so that I have enough time for my body to get used to not having the pill so that I can track 'aunt flo' and make sure she is NOT coming to the wedding or tagging along on the honeymoon.
If you went off the pill, how long did it take for your body to get on a regular cycle? Any insights would be great! MUAH LIW ladies!

Re: Going off 'the pill'
i would love to know the answer to that question also.....
I have been on the pill over 10 years as well.....I want to go off bc i want a honeymoon baby but am so scared about getting pregnant now and being obviously pregnant for my wedding so i think im going to wait til like 3 months b4 the wedding to go off the pill.
i hope thats enough time to adjust

Re: Going off 'the pill'
Everything you said is exactly what I am thinking about. I think I was 19 then and now...well, let's just say I am rapidly approaching another decade. I figure having November through February to see if things adjust properly will be okay. If then it looks like aunt flo will be crashing the wedding or honeymoon I have time to go back on the pill to stop that from happening...This is so stressful!

Re: Going off 'the pill'
Don't assume you won't get pregnant right away! I know a few people that factored in 3 months before their body would ovulate again, and they got pregnant right away. I also know people that got pregnant on the pill, and one screwed up her nuvaring and got pregnant. So I would say if you really don't want to be pregnant at your wedding, stop the pills a few weeks before your wedding so your period doesn't fall on your wedding and see what happens from there! I also do know girls having trouble getting pregnant who were on the pill for a while, but the other ones I know who got pregnant right away also were on the pill forever. I don't think that's the problem.

Re: Going off 'the pill'
there is no guarantee that your cycle would be normal so you cant really plan to go off bc in order to make sure your pd doesnt land on your wedding day... if anything you should keep taking it so that you can make sure it doesnt happen that day...

Re: Going off 'the pill'
Every person is different and there is no right answer to tell you how long it will take. My doctor told me it only takes a week for the bcp to be out of your system and you can get pregnant your first month off.

Re: Going off 'the pill'
I thought about doing this to have a honeymoon baby as well, but I was afraid of messing up my cycle and having my period on my wedding/honeymoon. At least on the pills I can always skip the placebo pills one week to adjust my period. I don't ever do this, but I would make an exception for my wedding

Re: Going off 'the pill'
I have been off the pill for over 2 years and my cycle is still some what unpredictable. It usually ranges from 21-29 days. Every one's body is different -the only way you are going to control if you have your period on your wedding day is to stay on the pill.

Re: Going off 'the pill'
i have been of for around a year and i am still not on a normal, trackable schedule... it makes me want to go back on just so that way i can ensure i don't have it on the wedding/honeymoon

Go to your ob/gyn. I work at one- I can't tell you how many girls come in for consults just to discuss having the friend on their wedding day and/or getting pregnant on their honeymoon

Re: Going off 'the pill'
I would def. talk to your doctor. Also, I would wait until you are married to go off the pill because I have heard of people going off it and getting pregnant right away. Just be careful

I just recently went off the pill and noticed I am very nauseous. Has this happened to anyone else? Any other side effects when you go off? I just had my period so know I can't be preggers. Just wondering!
It can def happen.. Your body is used to having that pill and the meds in it and now your not taking it so its almost like a withdrawl. Your body is reacting to not having it. It wil go away...

Re: Going off 'the pill'
I've been off for a little over 2 years now. It took me 3 months to get back to 'Normal' 28-30 day cycle. The worst part of it was I had a migraine that lasted for about 1 week when going off. Doc. said it was the hormone change that caused it. It was so bad one night, I went to the ER desperate for help.
On a good note, my periods are much lighter and shorter OFF the pill! I originally went on when I was 20 because I had heavy 7 day periods with a mix of other problems. So for 11 years, I had regular 5-6 day BC periods. Now that I'm off, I have it for MAYBE 2 days and then need just a liner for a day or 2 after that. Who Knew! I would have gone off the pill long ago lol

Re: Going off 'the pill'
i went off the pill in early august and aunt flo visited the second week of september. So it was pretty much normal i guess. I'm going to wait and see how it goes for October. If it was anything like my old cycle (before the pill) it will be late. Ugh. I can never track it.

Was it a normal full period?? Do you have any other symptoms? You can still have monthly bleeding when you're pregnant. Ever watch that show 'I didn't know I was pregnant'???? Scary stuff. Just pay attention to your next one!
