Going on a cruise...!!

Ok, so some background. Last week, one of my BFF's/BM went to a taping of The View with her friend/my wedding dj

While they were on the show, Rosie O'Donnell effed up (I think?) and wound up giving away a 7 day cruise to EVERYONE in the audience!!!

So my BM and her friend both get to bring 3 people each! My BM rocks and invited me to go!!!! The cruise leaves out of Miami and goes to a bunch of tropical places during President's Day week in February.

Here are the issues.
1 - Flight. Apparently round trip flights to Miami are going for about $500/roundtrip during that time frame. Now, FH has a bunch of flyer miles....and if I can use them for this flight that would rock....but we're not sure if there will be any 'frequent flyer seats' available. If not, I don't think I can swing it.
2 - Classes. I start my grad school classes tomorrow, and I really want to do well. That being said, I'd miss two classes. Do you think thats a big deal (Im taking 2 classes, they each meet once a week for 3 hours)??
3 - Money for the week. How much would you guys spend for a week long cruise? For drinks and excursions? I'm not going to be extravagant, but I DO want to enjoy myself....

What would you ladies do??

Use his miles and bring $500. Smuggle pot and alcohol from the ports. Get high and drink. And buy me souvenirs.

but i would like to add: make sure you wear incredibly slutty clothes the whole time and have some 17 year old vacationing with his parents fall in love with you ( from afar of course)

honestly... i wouldn't do it!

i think that it's probably going to cost you a lot more than you realize, and you'll be missing two classes.. which in grad school can be an entire two lessons. if you have the money anyway, why don't you put it aside and start your honeymoon fund!

This sounds fantastic!! What a nice friend you have!!! With that being said, all the food is included so thats the good thing!! But if you drink like FH and myself do, you'll end up with a $1400 bill after 5 days, OH! But this did included some shopping, I think I bought a bag and a T Shirt!!! And the shore excursions could cost :

My take on it...if you are trying to save money and dont want to pay for the flight make it a road trip. If you are with 3 friends you can definitely switch drivers and make it to miami in about 23-25 hours (depending on speed also nonstop) It costs about 160 each way with tolls and gas.

About you missing classes. Tell your professors...they are pretty cool and I have missed classes. Everything that you need to do is on the outline so get it done ahead of time if you can

Dont know how much to bring on a cruise. I travel a lot but never by boat. hopefully someone helped you with that.

Yeah, I'm really torn. We should be saving... But on the other hand, now that I'm not living near my bff, it would be such a nice thing to do since we don't see each other as much anymore. I'm really on the fence about it.

Is it possible to only spend $500 for the week...? if I smuggle alcohol on board????

yeah, I think the class thing isn't a worry. They were tossing around RENTING a car to drive down instead of flying. We'll see! Thanks for your help ladies!!

oh and dont do many excursions.

Sneak in alcohol...put it in water bottles and put it in your backpack...its the one bag that you can carry around right when you get on the ship. That will save you tons of money!!!!!

yeah, last cruise I went on I emptied two bottles of mouthwash and filled them with rum and used green food dye!!!!!!
