going on a cruise next wk w/out julianne

hi girls- I couldnt post this before as this was a surprise trip for Rob..to celebrate his up coming 40th bday.

so we are flying to Fla next sat and leaving for the cruise monday..to the bahamas..without julianne...and then returning to orlando on Friday.

so FOUR and a HALF days without the baby
we are leaving Julianne with robs sister and her hubby and 2 kids. WE had a great time with them last week (for the holidays). His sister is VERY capable and loving.

any tips ? to make the flight easier, the separation easier (for us!)...and any tips about cruising in general?/

We are going on the Soverign of the Seas.. 4 days to the bahamas...any tips/words of wisdom appreciated.

THANKS

Have a wonderful time. My best friend always told me that the most important thing you can do for your children is to give them 2 parents that love one other and put their marriage first. Without a strong marriage, your family is not on a solid fondation. It is great that you are going on a trip with just DH, although I am SURE you will miss the baby all the time. Not sure how to be away from her, but wanted to send my support.

Phyl, thats great, that youre going to spend some special time with hubby
Sovereign of the Seas was the first ship we've been on, its GORGEOUS !!

Weve had tons of cruise posts, Im sure you can dig them up here

Have lots of fun and Julianne sounds like shes in great hands. She'll do some special bonding with her family also.

Hi Phyl,

I have no parenting tips but we went on the Soveriegn of the Seas in 2002 and we had a great time. It's an older ship but they keep it up beautifully. I believe it still does the same itinerary now-CocoCay and the Bahamas. If you walk past all the watersports on Cococay to a more secluded area, you'll find hammocks. It's so peaceful to just lie there in one-you must do it. Anyone with a one year old deserves it.

Have a fun and safe trip!

Have fun, and know that Julianne is safe and happy.

I have only been away from Annalise one time and it was only overnight. Sorry I have no advice but I am certainly jealous. We are planning a trip this week to the Bahamas or another close island with a family resort. We do not have any family that could watch her for 5 days. It sounds like you are very fortunate. Take advantage of your chance to get away with no regrets.

will be away from Julianne for 4 whole days...I know we will have a good time once we are actually on the ship..but you girls know me, I am the queen of worriers!

rob actually looked around the website to see if they would allow infants on board. looks like they only accept after the age of 3 - I guess it has to do with being potty trained...and they charge for the baby...

have fun!!!! I'm sure you will miss her!!! (DH wants to call our kennel every night we go away...its probably 100x harder with a child)

I think 4 days is a good time period...long enough to get some R&R...short enough to get home to Julianne soon!!!

I replied to your other post! HAVE FuN!!! We missed Alexzander, but it wasn't that bad! We knew he was well taken care of.. as your little babydoll will be too!!

Make sure you have a printout of all the emergency numbers and a signed letter giving medical authority to your SIL! (just in case...) Make sure your Peditrician has a copy too! Good Luck! Relax and have a blast!!!!!
