Going to a big boy bed?

Going to a big boy bed?

No, we're not ready for this either, but how old do they usually go in their big beds?

We want to get the race car bed for Caiden but in the twin bed size one, not the one you use the crib mattress for. We figured that we'd spend the money on a mattress that will last after he's outgrown the bed.

Thanks again!

I put Emma in a big girl bed at 25 months. She wasnt climbing out of her crib but I wanted to get her used to a big girl bed before Jeremy came.

Do you have to keep a gate in her doorway, so she can't roam the house? Or does she stay in her bed?

I got my son the big boy race car bed as soon as he started climbing out of the crib, which was about 2 - 2 1/2. I didn't use a gate or anything - if he got up he always came to my room - he wasn't a roamer, Thank God!

I have a gate in the hallway between our rooms and the rest of the house. Emma always comes in and I hear her open the door to her room but god forbid she got out without me knowing Id be cleaning up a mess for weeks!!

Luke went into the big boy bed at 21 months. He just wouldnt stay in the crib. It worked for us though b/c I needed the crib for Tara anyway. At first I had a mattress and box spring directly on the floor b/c it was too high for him to get into when it was on a frame. Then I got him the twin car bed which he loves (try to get one used!! Thats what we did, the Little Tikes one doesnt wear out so it's as good as a new one and alot cheaper)

We have a gate in his doorway, he's a definite roamer and one to get into trouble. He's 2 1/2 now and starting to listen when we tell him to stay put somewhere but I dont trust him at night yet, I'd hate to think of him roaming the house at 6am and what trouble he could get into.
