Re: Going to a wedding tomorrow at the Riviera

Ladies! I am so sorry it took me so long to get back to you. We got home at 1:30AM, then the next day was Fathers Day so it was back to Massapequa for me, then work today!

First off I have to say the Riviera is beautiful. Its wonderfully romantic and I like the fact that its small and intimate, perfect for a summer wedding.
The one thing that really bothered me and my family is that during the ceremony we couldnt hear one word that was spoken. I am not sure if it was because we were on the water or what, but microphones are definitely needed. I know it wasnt just the bride and groom because we couldnt hear the priest or any of the readers. Basically the only people that could hear the ceremony was the bridal party and the front row of people. I dont mean to alarm or make anyone upset, I am just telling you like it is. We were sitting towards the middle of the chairs.
Another thing that happened during the ceremony is Mr Softee came to the surrounding residences and was rather loud. I know there is probably nothing you can do about it since it was a hot summer day. In fact most of the guests chuckled. He came at the beginning and at the end of the ceremony.
The cocktail hour was nice - for the most part the food was good. I had eggplant parm, shrimp cocktail, sushi, and some bow tie pasta. It was all very tasty - my husband and father ate more than me and they thought the food was good too.
Onto the reception which went very smoothly. We had a blonde lady waitress who was very nice. She went around and asked everyone if they wanted another coke, beer, etc. A few times she brought people more drinks without even asking for them.
The appetizer was mozerella and tomato which was good. The next course was walnut and madarin orange type salad which was okay, a little too strong in taste for me but that could be just me.
For the main course I had the salmon which was good. It came with mashed potatoes and green beans and so did the other dinners. DH and my sister had Chateau Briand and they liked it too. The waitress took into consideration everyones rare/medium preferences very well. Trust me, my sister wont eat meat unless its nearly leather and she ate it all.
I had one bite of the cake (I was trying not to be a pig!) and it was very moist, you could tell just by looking that it was. It was chocolate cake with rasberry and some other kind of chocolate cream filling. I had to go for the chocolate fountain though....I am not sure if that is part of what the Riviera offers or if it was contracted outside. In any case there was pineapple, strawberries, marshmellows, rice krispie treats and pretzels to dip it in. It was awesome! I didnt have any other venetian choices but a lot of my family enjoyed the ice cream and some other types of cake.

Overall I would give it a very good rating. Future brides, I wouldnt say you have much to be concerned about besides the hearing the ceremony. Everything went very smoothly and the food was good, the staff was good too. I am sorry I couldnt be any more specific but feel free to ask me if you have any other questions!
