I will be a step mom to a 10 yr old girl and an 18 year old son. been with him for 7 years so pretty much watched them grow up.....:) love being a stepmom!!

Fh has two kids that live with us. He has full custody, so I have been raising them since they were 2 and 5. It's tough at times, but I love them as if they were my own

it will get better my relationship with my step daughter was not always great at all- like it caused major problems - she was over weight & it bothered me. i couldnt understand why no one in the family cared that a 12 year old was like 180 pounds - i knew her mother was like 220 pounds so i guess thats where she thinks its ok to be overweight at that age. i am only like 135 pounds and when she comes to visit i only eat grilled chicken and saald because i am trying to be a good role model for her. Its hard but good luck!

it will get better, things like that take time. fbil is 40 and his stepmom is 44.....it took a long time but everyone gets along great now.

give it time...it will get better. I know a similar situation (that is really close to 'home' actually...) and it has taken a LONG time for two girls that I know to come to somewhat accept their fathers new wife (About 10 years...) Just try to be patient and understanding...

I will have two step daughters. I love them very much. They will be my MOH.
To those that have a difficult time, I think the older they are, the harder. They are adjusted to the Father being single and probably thought their parents would get back together. Just give it time...
