Just wanted to know if any other girls are going to be at the Massapequa (Town of Oyster Bay East) hall tonight to get their marriage license? Tonight is one of their late nights and they are open til 7:30. If you are, i'll see ya there!

I live in Huntington and they are only open late on Fridays, and you have to make an appt. to go (and you have to be a huntington town resident to go there then). Anyone know if I can go to Massapequa if I don't live in the town of oyster bay? I would like having the option of going another night to get the license!

im pretty sure as long as you are a new york state resident you can go anywhere! My friend from Queens got hers in LI.

Thanks - I just called and you can go to any town hall in NYS! And town of oyster bay has a town hall in OB too. Open late same nights as Massapequa - tonight and Sep 23.

MARRIAGE LICENSES

The Town Clerk is responsible for issuing a New York State Marriage License to qualified applicants as well as recording the marriage with the New York State Department of Health. The marriage record is on file in this office and in Albany.

Licenses to marry in New York State may be obtained from the Town Clerk’s Office (Town Hall East, 54 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, New York 11771 or Town Hall South, 977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa, New York 11758) regardless of the residence of either of the parties. Once the license is issued, the ceremony may be performed anywhere in the state. A marriage license is good for sixty (60) days, beginning twenty-four hours (24) after the license is issued. The requirements for the issuance of marriage licenses in the Town of Oyster Bay are mandated by the provisions of the New York State Domestic Relations Laws.

The marriage section of the Oyster Bay Town Clerk’s Office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Applicants should arrive prior to 4:15 p.m. Both applicants must appear in person. Two forms of ID are required.

So - even though the town hall is open late, you may not be able to get a marriage license after 4:45. Call and ask!

ETA: i just called town of oyster bay (south hall) and they said yes, they are open until 7:30pm tonight.
