My sister called me yesterday to tell me that she wants me to switch her from my matron of honor to a bridesmaid! Her reason being basically she thinks its stupid that I asked my best friend in the whole world to be my maid of honor and her to be my matron. She thinks she will look 'Stupid' and has never heard of anyone having a maid and matron before. I told her people do it all the time but she doesn't care. I think that is being really selfish considering its my day and if this is what I want why does she care if she will look stupid??? She says as her sister I should have never even asked my best friend. Well basically now she wants me to choose. Its either my best friend goes from maid of honor to a bridesmaid or she does. IM so annoyed and hurt and don't know what to do!
Why is everyone turning in to such big baby's about everything?!?!?!!?

Does she feel if there's a maid and matron, she won't feel special in her title? I know someone whose having both. Are you close with your sister?

I am having a Man of Honor (my brother) and a Maid of Honor (my cousin). There is nothing wrong with have the two people closest you both standing up for you!

If it's the title she's upset about, than just name them both MOH, the positions are the same, just the names are different. Maybe she feel the name makes her sound old? To be honest the only people who really notice or care about the titles are the people included in the wedding party. To make your life easier and everyone happier, I would make them both MOH's. Maybe she feels it's a step below your girlfriend?

So sorry to hear you are going through this. Tell your sister how you feel --that she is forcing you to choose. Tell her you dont want to choose. She'll eventually come to her senses. What do your parents think? Have you tried talking to them? Maybe they can help you talk to her.

I'm having both. I had narrowed it down to two of my friends and I could not decide and then I said to myself why am I torturing myself have them both!!!! And that is what I'm doing!!!! It is your wedding do it your way.

i agree i would have a long talk with her and try and convince her that you both are important to her but in different ways and that you wanted both of them to be right there beside you on your special day. maybe try and tell her the matron is more important

Your sister needs to be more mature and supportive....there is a such thing as a maid of honor (usually reserved for a single woman) and a matron of honor (usually a married woman or older woman)...but if she continues to b**ch and just wants to be a bridesmaid let her and move on! Good luck.

at my wedding, my sister was my matron of honor and my cousin was my maid of honor... its your day, you should be able to have whatever you want without others making you decide!!
