Going to Social Security to change my name....

I know I have to bring my original marriage license and driver's license..but do they actually take the marriage license from you or just look at it and give it right back? It makes me nervous to give them the only copy I have. Should I make a copy of it first or does it matter since you cannot use a copy anyway? Am I just being overly nervous?

Has anyone had any problems with this?
