Hi Ladies! Well I have decided I am going to start looking at photographers next month. I am interested in Patken, Duet and Timeless Impressions so far. I want a photographer that does both photo journalism and tradition pics. I also don't want to spend over $5,000. The cheaper the better! Any other suggestions???? I'm not sure if I want a video/photo package either. I wanted to look at Wild Rose, Pennylane and Amore for video as well. But if I fall in love with a video by a photo vendor, I'll of course get the package. I'm trying to keep my options open.

Re: Going to start looking at photographers....
Those are some great choices.
FH and I also really liked Artisan Photo. I know I must sound like an advertisement. But I am so picky about Photo but Chuck is a real artist and real professional, Lynn is the sweetest woman, and I just got a great feeling going there, and the prices are so reasonable, especially since you get all proofs and negatives, and you also get proofs online (they convert it all to digital for you) and you can get the magazine/coffee table style for the same price. I think it's such a good deal. In order to omprove on anything, package, quality, anything we'd probably have to spend twice as much. I'd check them out!

I went with Duet. We got photo/video for $5,500. They were the only place we went to but we fell in love with their albums. So we booked them on the spot. We got the platinum package.
If you want more info fm me.

Re: Going to start looking at photographers....
Lilpie, I had that same budget in mind for photo/video before I started looking... Now I see that it costs more than that for the most part.. I'm hoping we find something near our budget that we like... has anyone found packages in the $5k range for both photo & video? We're going to Duet this week and I see someone on here got a package with them in that range. I hope we love them!!

Re: Going to start looking at photographers....
Artisan's photo starts at $3300 I think, and video at about $1200 or so..so that's right in that price range and it includes a lot

Another vote for Duet :) I am paying under 5k and getting photo and video. They seemed so easy to work with too!

I actually went to duval and they quoted us 6500.00. I wonder what the difference in package was.

Re: Going to start looking at photographers....
Ladies, I just went to Queens Bridal Center and got a really good package.... does anyone have any reviews of them?
I got film photography with an album, all proofs included in an album AND scanned onto a CD, 1 16x20, 2 8x10s, and thank you cards for $1550....
Did anyone get any quotes that are comparable in package and price? I need to make a decision within the next 2 or 3 weeks and want to shop around before I leave a deposit... thanks!!

Photo alone under 5,000 depends on your album type and size from what I've seen. Patken has good rates but I didn't like their style-I know a bride who used them and loved them. Duet is very good and I was offered a package with 2 photographers and video for 4200- winter bride package and they gave me 2005 rates - just a tip, try to bargan with them a little. They were my second choice.
I'm going with Gray Studios in Floral Park- my package so far is about 4000 with a matted album, not slip-in or digital. We will probably go over that bc that's for 8x10 photos and I want an assortment of sizes and number on the pages and that'll eat into my image numbers. Their quality is soooo good I had to book them. I'd rather have fewer great pics than tons of alright ones!
Just beware that they get you in the album costs after the fact...I've been warned about this by a few brides!! Make sure you specify which album you are getting and how much extras are (and what they are). Duet has the best prices for that- they charge for extra pages only- not per image like other studios. Grey just beat them in quality for me but they were very tempting. I did some research and am a photography student so sorry to ramble!

I just booked Gray Studios last night. Mike is amazing I love his work. My cousins both used him and there albums are beautiful. He is definately worth the extra money. After it's all over you only have your pics left.
