FH and I are not financially ready to purchase our rings right now but we keep hearing that the price of gold (and platinum) is going up and up and is only going to get worse exponentially. Now we don't know what to do.
A lot of places let you put a deposit on something and then keep making payments... why not try that?
Yea it's annoying the prices keep rising. If you can, order them soon and hold onto them.
To help with our ring costs (b/c mine ended up being way more than we planned) my FH actually picked a black titanium ring. It's awesome b/c it's different. He wasn't planning on wearing one, but now he excited about it!
Find a jeweler who is going out of business and/or a store that's being liquidated that sells jewelry (*cough*Fortunoff?*cough*). You will find some RIDICULOUSLY LOW prices on bands. That's how FH and I were able to purchase gold bands--75% off!!! $1500 worth of rings wound up costing us maybe $450.
My e-ring has an odd shape so I wanted to get the one that fit in, but it might be to much money now. FH and I are going to check it out on Friday. I am so upset about this all. This economy really is taking the fun out of all of this.

this is so crazy.. when I first ordered my band (it was custom made) the price of gold was so low!! I was so happy and then it took like 2 months to come in and in 2 months the price of gold skyrocketed and I paid two hundred more than I wanted too... but its a once in a lifetime purchase and overall still a good deal, but still!
anyway, I kept making payments to the jeweler.. so it wasnt all in one shot
First off, you cannot predict the gold and platinum market. It can go up yes but it also can go down. Alot of places let you order it and then you make payments on it.
