Golem at the vet until tomorrow - UPDATE!

Well, today is the day that Golem is getting neutered and I miss him so much already! I already cried twice today just thinking of him not being home and I can't concentrate on anything at work this morning... I know he will be fine - I just really miss him and I hate that we won't get to see him again until tomorrow night I didn't want to leave for work this morning either - I kept looking at Golem on his little bed and wishing I could go with him! We took him with us this morning when Craig dropped me off at the train station, and as they pulled away, I saw Golem's little head sticking out the window and just burst into tears again! I feel so bad for leaving him, I'm afraid he's not going to trust us anymore when we get in the car! I'm being such a baby, but I can't help missing my puppy!

Craig said he would call once he dropped Golem off at the vet, so I'm waiting with bated breath for my phone to ring for the news!! This is torture, I can't wait until this is all over and we can have our puppy back again!! I am being such a baby, but I just needed to vent, so thanks for listening!!!

Re: Golem at the vet until tomorrow

I remember how it felt... I must have called the vet's office 6 times that day to check for updates.
He will be fine.

Re: Golem at the vet until tomorrow

thanks

I just talked to Craig a little while ago, and after grilling him with questions about how Golem was at the vet - he said that I could call at 4 to check up on him :) I feel a little better knowing that he's going to be heavily medicated for the next two days - as bad as that must sound! I just didn't want to think of him being alone, and in pain in a strange place - but they said he'll pretty much be out the whole time and that he will be fine

I can't help being a worrisome Mommy, but I really do miss him!! I will be very happy to come home tomorrow night and have my little puppy waiting again

Re: Golem at the vet until tomorrow

I just went through it with Scooby and believe me, we take it worse than they do. He was groggy when I picked him up the next day and I was told he slept most of the time anyway. We've been back to the vet for various things since then and he doesn't react in any way to show that it was upsetting to him. You hear about dogs crying or getting upset when they get near the office, but Scooby has done none of that.
I'm sure Golem will be just great. Try to relax and enjoy your Valentine's Day.

Re: Golem at the vet until tomorrow - UPDATE!

UPDATE!!!

Well, I was a little too upset yesterday to post once I talked to the vet - but Golem was sick before they took him in for the surgery!! I called at 4 to check up on him and after being on hold for a nervewracking 5 minutes, they go 'Oh, the doctor needs to talk to you' Then I was on hold again, and finally the doctor gets on the phone and tells me that Golem threw up before the operation! And he said that's normal sometimes when the puppies get scared, but he was more concerned whit what he threw up.... Looks like Golem got into a few things at the dog park this weekend bc the vet said they found rocks, wood, foam rubber (from a tennis ball) grass and dirt!!! He siad he was a littel concerned about the tennis ball so they did an x ray and saw that just some rocks were left in his system, and he should pass that out. What worried him - and freaked me out was when he said the tennis ball remains do not show up in the x-ray, so if it was still in his system and he doesn't pass it out, it could become a problem if it gets stuck in his system!!! He told me that he was fine after the surgery though - but we need to keep a closer eye on him at the dog park from now on.... I felt so absolutely horrible thinking of my poor puppy being so scared that he was sick,a dn no one was there with him.... I started crying as soon as I got off the phone and just couldn't stop - I really just wanted to leave work and bring Golem home right then and there. Tehn Criag called five seconds later adn I couldn't even talk to him - I was so upset about Golem and really just felt like a horrible parent. So I get home and call the vet again, becasue I stared crying again as soon as I walked through the door!!! This time the news was much better, thank God. I talked to one of the nurses who just adores Golem, and she told me he was doign very well, and that he was resting comfortably. Of course, I started crying again just hearing that And she said they were taking good care of him and that I had nothing to worry about. So then, I felt much better, and I was able to concentrate on making a nice romantic Valentine's Day dinner for Craig - complete with homemade sugar cookies shaped like hearts that I decorated I miss my little boy so much, I can't wait to go home tonight and see him again. I had no idea how HARD this was going to be, but I'm so glad it's over. never want Golem to go through anything like this again, I don't think I could take it!

Thanks ladies, for all of your kind words and support while my puppy was away! I'll be sure to tell him tonight that all of his LIW friends were thinking of him!

Re: Golem at the vet until tomorrow - UPDATE!

I'm so sorry Golem was sick. It's impossible to keep them from eating every little thing on the ground. It drives me nuts. Satchmo has been eating all the dirty snow that's left around and he's been having diarrhea off and on, which I think is caused by all that nasty bacteria in the snow. It gets to the point that I hate taking him out, because I have to spend all my time taking stuff out of his mouth! Hope he feels better!

Re: Golem at the vet until tomorrow - UPDATE!

thanks :) I feel the same way about taking Golem outside sometimes too - it's like all he's interested in is eating every rock and clump of dirt in our backyard! At least I know it's not just my dog - I felt really bad after talking to the vet - like we should have been watching him more or something... I almost wish it would snow 3 feet again so we don't have to worry about him eating anything but clean snow

Craig is calling the vet at 10 to see what time he can bring Golem home, so I'm waiting to hear from him any minute now. I hope it's soon because I can't believe how much I missed my litte guy!!

GOLEM IS HOME!!!!!!

Craig picked him up a little while ago and he said Golem is doing just fine now! He's a little sleepy, but other than that, he's back to normal! I even made him put the phone up to Golem so I could hear him, I'm such a darn geek, I swear! I am just SO happy right now, I just want to run home and kiss my puppy I'm so glad he's home again!!! Luckily, my boss is awesome and OK'd me leaving early today, so I'll be outta here at 3, and hopefully home by 5! YAY my BABY is home again!!!!!

Glad he is doing Ok!!! Bailey ate the SAME things when she was a pup and if you fear they have eaten something sharp, give them bread (she ate a nail or screw at one point).

Like I've said before, we took all toys away from bailey except for the marrow bones until she was mature enough to know what to do with them. That included Kong toys. We reintroduced toys at about 2 1/2 years old. She still picks at tennis ball fuzz if we ignore her (spite) and tissues. All other toys, including stuffed animals seem to work now!
