thanks for helping out...

It's an interesting article though..I agree with it to a point. I believe some husbands get credit for things that they do around the house like they are Gods..but women don't get that kind of recognition for doing what's 'expected' of her.

Yes, I see that every day. But I cook and clean and do everything for my husband because I want to. If I didn't want to, I just wouldn't and then he would HAVE to pick up the slack. Just do it or don't. I don't expect praise but I get it, almost every single day.

And when DH does stuff, I praise him because I am truly, genuinely appreciative of it - not bc he is a man but bc that means that I don't have to do it

I agree with you. I come from an Italian household so I was raised to cook and clean but I never wanted to be 'expected' to do it.. Im very lucky.. I have a man who's lived alone since 18 and appreciates anything I do for him.

But my father on the other hand..never appreciated it..and if once or twice he picked up his dirty underwear.. he was praised like he was the second coming...

yes, i am italian also and i saw the same thing with my brother, cousins, dad, uncles - it can get annoying BUT in the article her husband is actually doing a lot and I would probably praise him too!

Re: GOOD ARTICLE!!WHY MEN DON'T HELP

I just can't agree with this. My parents always shared household tasks. My father would do dishes, help with homework, he does the laundry and share the food shopping and cooking.

My mother worked very hard too and just because she was home during the day didn't mean she could do everything either. She worked nights and lots of overtime.

I think each couple needs to work these things out for themselves and how it will fit into their lifestyle.

I understand that with my work schedule I will probably assume responsibility of more household chores. But at the same time FH likes to cook and do things like laundry so it won't be my sole responisbility.

I think this article was much to stereotypical with little content. I think obiously chores need to be shared. But come on, enough with the man bashing. Just figure what works for you as a couple and not jump on the man bashing bandwagon!
