good friends hubby cheating (long vent) update

background:
i met these people about 6.5 years ago through my hubby. i became good friends with lets call her Jo. He was a good friend too let's call him Nick.

the story:
it all started last year. her dad became ill with cancer and she was trying to support her mom through this hard time. His father had and cancer and was dying. I was getting married and they were both in our wedding party. everything seemed fine around our wedding. abut a week later was her 5th anniversary. about a week after that we got together because she needed to talk. she bgan to tell me the last time they had boom boom was on there anniversay and before that was months. I though this was odd. Then she told me since he became a teacher in the city he spends around $20+ on lunch each day. I also thought this was odd.

about 2 weeks later another mutual friend of ours was getting married and nick was in the wedding party. at the reception Jo asked me have i seen nick. i said no, because i hadn't. well then she disappeared. supposedly she was not feeling well and they left.

a little while after that jo and i spoke and she said he drove into the city, picked up this girl and brought her to dowling. he was trying to help he get into college. something about a summer program. then he offers her without discussing this wth jo to stay at there home.

about 3 weeks later i saw her again and she told me he is always online chatting and never gets off thats why i could not reach by phone. then she lets on he is chatting with his students!!! i said that is not good jo. also he started to detach himself from his friends. he would not do anything, or call.

i had spoken to her online a few times and she said nick did not want to celebrate christmas this year. that was odd because it was his favorite holiday. so she went around and still had chirstmas and bought gifts. finally after the mid season in bowling (he was on dh team) he quite and said he hates bowling now. dh has not seen him in 9 months and he never has any contact with anyone. he is invited to all our friends functions, but never shows.

her birthday came and went and no acknowledgement from him. I got together with her and she said to me i think nick is cheating. of course i have though this from the begining, but how do you tell a friend that? well, she went into therapy, because he refused this whole time. the worst is he has been so mean to her she is actually terrified of him. he has not hit her or anything, but he has this strange look in his eye which she had never seen before. plus all he does is scream at her which he never did before. he bough himself a laptop though,a nd created a new screen name!

anyway a few weeks ago i saw jo. she said she found hard evidence he is screwing around. i said ok why is he still sleeping in the same bed as you. she replied well i kicked him out about a month ago. she is not even comfortable getting undressed in front of him anymore, let along sleep in the same bed. he refuses to leave the house and keeps dening everything. she decided she is very seerious about he wedding vows and she will keep trying to get the marriage back together. to me if only one person tries, thats not a marriage.

as of last night:
we were at our friends for dinner, after we ate jo called and said to willie i found him at dowling(this year this girl is in college). turns out she has been checking up on him often and this is the first time she has caught him in the act. she had told him a while ago if you want this marriage to work, you can never see her again. well, before willie can say anything he heard nick screaming at her in the background and her crying. then jo said i will call you back.

well, we came home from our friends around 11pm and still no call back. this morning i geot a call from pam and she said jo finally called back and they had a huge fight and she will call me later.

i am simply so upset about this because i saw them get married and we used to go over there home all the time. they would have 4th of july bbq and everything.

all of our mutual friends have known for almost a year that he has been cheating and i think that is why he is not around us.

thank for the vent.

What a dirtbag!!! She should definitely still be in counseling. She needs to leave him because it doesn't sound like he wants the marriage to work and screwing around with a student that's a big no-no. to your friend!

She need to get out now. He sounds like a real loser.

I'm sorry Mish... That sounds horrible.

It also sounds to me like he's not cheating with only one other person. But that's just my impression. That whole computer thing with the new screen name makes it sound like he's on the prowl or something. Also, distancing himself from friends means more than just cheating. I think maybe his whole lifestyle is changed. What a creep.

i think it's for the better that she finds out now - he sounds like he is miserable with himself and is trying to figure a way out of his depression - but he's going about it all wrong!
i hope she realizes tht she deserves better and can move on...

to all involved...

It always saddens me to hear about men who are low enough cheat. Your friend needs to realize her self-worth and get out of that relationship. There ARE good men out there that will treat her as she should be treated.

that is very sad, and makes me so mad that anyone would do that
I think she has every right to know.

What a scum!!!

That is the one thing I don't hink I can EVER forgive (cheating) And I know I would NEVER let my husband yell & belittle me. She needs to leave the house (seeing that he won't) & get some 'alone time'.

One thing that popped into my mind while reading this is drugs. Could he be taking drugs? You mentioned that he has distanced himself from his friends and he no longer wants to celebrate his favorite holiday. Plus he is mean to your friend. So in addition to cheating, he could be taking some drugs.

Julybaby, I agree. That's what I meant when I said he was doing more than cheating... a whole lifestyle change.

My BF had a lot of these same behaviors--distanced herself from friends, got mean and defensive, started acting weird. It was drugs.

This is a terribly sad story, and I am very sorry for your friend. I can understand your concern, and your dissappointment over your friends' troubles. But, just try to be supportive for her sake, b/c it sounds like she's gonna need a good friend to lean on during this difficult and emotional time.

I will say a prayer for her
