We know of a cheap one right outside of Boston, in Framingham(about 15 miles outside of Boston). It was the Howard Johnson.

Check hotels on www.bookingbuddy.com to compare deals. I live here (Boston) so if you tell me where in town you want to stay, I can make more specific recommendations.

We always stay at the Hyatt Harborside, I love the place and the view is amazing.

I recommend looking into the Buckminster. It's in Kenmore Square and overlooks Fenway Park. It's also a half a block away from the 'T.' It's cheap, but nice. I've stayed there at least three times.

the wyndham on weekends is not too bad- it is in downtown - you can get good deals by booking online on their site - i think it was $120 last time i stayed there - you have the search the wyndham site to find their really cheap rates but they are cheaper then hotels.com

also there is a holiday inn on cambridge st that is pretty good

if you want to stay in a faboulous hotel - 15 beacon - great service -nice rooms about $300 though

we stayed at the westin. i forget what the deal was but i got it through a website. sorry wish i could be of more help.

the only thing is that the room was small. (i thought). however the bathroom was marble. very nice.

we stayed in peabody, right outside salem, and it was only $79 a night. i forget the name of the hotel, but it was a chain type place.

we stayed at the Main Stay Suites, very nice if you are looking for a inexpensive place.

Marriott Copley Place is great, right in the heart of Boston as well as the Sheraton.

I'm going up next Friday and staying at the Sheraton in Cambridge but I'm using my starwood points so it's only costing $45. I think the room is normally $200? Check out expedia or hotels.com - you can get one for like $140-150/night in Boston and much cheaper if you're willing to stay in Braintree or Brookline or someplace like that (somewhere the T still runs but outside Boston proper).
