Good inexpensive car??

I am looking to get a different car because my VW Jetta monthly payments seem to be too high. I'm looking to get a different car to help save money for the wedding. Any suggestions for a good, reliable, inexpensive car would be greatly appreciated! TIA!!

eta...I am looking to get a fairly new car (2007 through 2009)

i also have a nissan sentra. 2007. i chose the sentra over the corolla because power windows and locks were included, i cant see in todays day adding that for an extra expense and i wasnt willing to have compromise on automatic. the civic woulda been by first choice in this midsize car range but imo, because civics and honda got so popular, they have overpriced them now by a bit.

very happy with my decison on the sentra and it was under 18K with everything, fees, taxes, etc.

I have a Kia Optima. They are ranked as the unsafest cars HAHA but I have never gotten into an accident so I can't confirm that statement. They are super cheap.

I have an '07 Nissan Altima with everything except navigation. I bought it used with like 7500 miles for 20K and I put down 3K. My payments are like 320 a month, but I love love love my car and it's super smooth when I drive it.

look into the Hyundai's. the Elantra, the Accent, etc, etc. they're actually pretty sharp looking now and great prices!

I think that the best thing you can do is buy a used car thats a little bit older from a senior citizen - it might be a little older but with barely any miles on it...

I have a mazda 3, 2005. It looks really new, it has really nice two tone interior and it's an all around good car, great mpg and reliable .I really like the shape of it too, very young. It is typically way less than its competitors.

I have an 08 Maxima and love it but after all is said and done I kind wish I got an Altima instead, I like it much better. I think they are pretty reasonable and you could always get one that was just returned off of a lease.

I just bought a 2009 Honda CIvic EX and absolutely love it! My last car was a 2000 Honda Accord...still runs really good (has a 171,000 miles on it). I just needed an upgrade

We have a Toyota matrix and it's pretty good. We brought it recently this year and got a pretty good pkg. They even threw in a sun roof with the price under $17K. Our prior car which got into an accident (a stupid deer ran into us) was the 08' Honda Civic, a great car for under $14K. Honda's are more affordable and better made in design and quality. I really miss our old car sometimes. lol.

Re: Good inexpensive car??

what about an accord?? I got mine right off a lease in 2004.....its a 2002 2 door and I love it....never had any problems and I have put so many miles going back n forth to Brooklyn to see FH and numerous trips to maryland, montauk, etc.....the transmission went the first few months I had it put it was covered under warranty...I got it for $18 with the extended warranty and only had like 28k miles on it....I put down 5000 and my payments were 275...I also sent it about $300-350 a month so I was finished 1.5 years earlier than expected!

I was actually going to buy a new one, but 4 door, but we decided to wait until we get married so that I don't put all those miles again going back and forth to BK....once we get married, it will be either a new accord or altima.....very reliable and have great warranties!!!
