Good prices for DJ's

I'm trying to compare DJ prices and could really use some advice. Can anyone tell me the average price for a LI DJ?
Thanks!!

Re: Good prices for DJ's

it really depends what you're looking for ... do you need a DJ *and* MC, lighting, plasma screens, photo montage, otherwise?

it cost anywhere from $600 to $6000 (or more) depending what you get.

Thanks!
Not so sure about the MC but I guess they help to announce things and what not. I just don't want anyone too fake and cheesy.

i totally understand what you mean about cheesy MCs

i used Variety Music and they were really nice, good, professional and kept my guests dancing the entire day! they also gave me a great price so that helped too :-P

Oh ok thanks. I'll check Variety out.
I have a decent price right now from a DJ in manhattan that will come to LI but it's good to comparison rates.

After hours gave me a great price! I didn't want any extras, but I also needed ceremony, CH, and extra time.
