sorry I thought you were kidding!
If you are serious then that is definitly not right. IMO - If you send a save the date to someone YOU have to invited them!

that is why we arent sending out STD - we arent 100% sure who we are inviting (friend-wise) and we do not want a situation like that -
IMO - if you give someone a STD then you should be sending them an invite

Oh gosh! That seems a little cruel. These people are going to be expecting an invite----and then its like ha ha you are not getting one!

I'm not trying to be sarcastic or vicious if that's how I came across. I can understand how this could possibly happen, but still I feel bad for those people with no real invites!

lol are you crazy?????????

No, I'm not crazy. I have friends and relatives in Wisconsin, Missouri, Tennessee...etc. When they see how much rooms are here, they may decline the STD. In that case, I wouldn't send them an invitation, right???

We are only sending them out to people we are 110% sure we are inviting...anyone on our maybe list is not getting one.

A friend of mine didn't invite someone who she invited to her engagement party and the person she didn't invite is still very bitter about it today!!!

I think the proper thing to do would be to send them invites anyway.
If they don't come, they don't come!
I have some out of state relatives, that probably won't come, but I will still send them invites as a courteous gesture.

well even if they turn down the std you should still send them an invitation and just tell them they can rsvp no so you can keept track. its only right. Why dont you just skip the stds and send the invitations out a little early then?

Because my father's side of the family live in Missouri and they need a good year to save up if they decide to come. They need to know way in advance.

Re: Good Question!!!???

There is someone who I sent a STD to who I really don't want to invite - but you cannot do that - i think it is really rude (JMO) - My mom said that maybe since I don't feel close to her anymore - she'll feel the same and not come - I can hope - but to not send an invite would make me look like i had no manners!

I was invited to an engagement party once and spent a decent amount of $$ on the gift and was never invited to the wedding!! This was probably 6-7 years ago and the situation still disgusts me!

ok well I would send out the stds then and then the invitations. Just make sure you only sent save the dates to people who you definitly want to possibly come. I know alot of people are suprised by how many oot'ers say yes!

Re: Good Question!!!???

The purpose of a STD is for the person to be able to have enough time to make plans for the wedding... you MUST send them an invitation! Even if they decline.. because they usually also say formal invitation to follow.. just out of courtesy you should still invite them even if you know they won't be able to make it.. it's your way of saying you'd like them to be with you
