Actually, Jess, there's a great vet in shirley on William Floyd.. Don't know if that's too far... but the emergency vet had to set my kittens leg once and told me to leave the cast on too long before I went to follow up and when I went to this vet she was like OMG, what did they tell you to do? He might lost his toes?! But she fixed him andhe kept his toes and all was good... the office is really good, I like them. I have to remember her name, something with an H... gimme a couple minutes
Aaah, I can't remember the Dr,'s name but it was Floyd Harbor Animal Hospital.

Re: Good Vet in Suffolk County
Sorry, can't help with the vet in suffolk but did they give you any pain killers from the clinic at least????
I can't believe it, what a nightmare!! I couldn't even handle seeing my pup in a cone after he was neutered.

sorry that your vet was being an a$$!!
which vet was it?
i have been using the petsmart vet in commack and i have had a wonderful experience with them so far.
they have an insurance plan for dogs thats very affordable, i think its 30 dollars a month
might be worth checking out

Re: Good Vet in Suffolk County
Thanks ladies, I'm going to call all these places if he's still in pain in the morning.
They put pain killers and antibiotics on the counter when I was argueing with them.. then they pretty much kicked me out..
so I grabbed them and stuck them in my purse.
I guess I stole them since I didn't pay?
Well anyway at least I have them, so yeah he's been on pain killers and antibiotics since yesterday - but he just seems to be in too much pain, and I want to make sure they didn't mess him up or hurt him.

Re: Good Vet in Suffolk County
I know it's not in Suffolk... but I travel from Queens to go to this vet, that's how much I trust him. I had another vet that was closer to me and they ripped me off BIG TIME.
My vet is Dr. Richard Selkowitz, East Rockaway Animal Hospital, their phone number is 516-887-3322. To me it's worth traveling, I have always trusted him and he's taken great care of my dogs and cat. We also brought my parents' chihuahua in recently to get a teeth cleaning and they called and said that a few teeth were rotted so they needed to come out, I think they took 3, but it wasn't a giant shock when my parents came in to pick him up... and the bill wasn't crazy like that. And they treat your animals like they're your own.
Hope you have better luck next time, we had a bad experience with a former vet and I know how awful it is. Hope Bailey is feeling better soon!!

OMG. i just read your post from yesterday and i was almost in tears. my dog is my little baby too- i can't imagine seeing her in pain like that. we brought her to the vet for an allergy shot yesterday and i was upset about THAT. i can't even imagine what i would do if i were in your position.
i know it's a little late, but i recommend bellport animal hospital. my family and FH's family have used them for years and years. we bring our pup there too. everyone there is SUPER nice, we absolutely love them.
their number is (631) 286-9660.
ugh, poor bailey. i feel so terrible now. this is going to be on my mind all day. let us know how everything is going.

Re: Good Vet in Suffolk County
I live in Suffolk but we use East Bay Vet Hospital - Dr. Selmonsky & Dr. Maltese in Merrick. Within the past 6 months both of our dogs got very hurt and needed orthopedic surgery. My Rottie tore her knee and my little Min Pin - his arm broke right in half while playing ball in the yard with the big one. WELL Hysterical was an understatement. We rushed him right there and they took such good care of my little guy. I wouldn't take them anywhere else in the world!
