FH and I met with our Rabbi over the weekend and it went really well. He wasn't too pushy with all of the traditions being that he is a conservative Rabbi. I was affraid he would have a problem with us living together and the food at the wedding not being Kosher but he didn't seem to care. The not so great news is he doesn't want me to wear a strapless dress at the ceremony which means i'll need to get some type of Jacket or something to cover my shoulders. I really don't want to have all the photos of the ceremony with my dress covered up. I don't know what to do!

Could you get just a little lace jacket or do you need to be fully covered?
what if you get one of those little shawls that will just cover your shoulders and back....they make them with snap buttons, they snap it on each side of your dress near the boobs and it just comes ove the shoulders and the upper part of your back....am I making sense? I'll try to find a pic to show you.

The ceremony is such a short time in your dress...If you like/want the rabbi it might be worth it to get a little jacket or a shawl just to cover your shoulders. Maybe you can take mock photos of you and fh before and after ceremony not covered up?
Thanks!!!! I guess the shrug won't be so bad lol. I'm probably overreacting but I just hate that I have to change my dress. He just said my shoulders need to be covered. I told him the dress was already very modest so he said that should be fine. I'm just glad he didn't tell me to add sleeves!!

Sometimes if your veil comes below your shoulders the rabbis won't care. Did you ask him about that?
Honestly, if he doesn't care about the non-kosher food, then I'm kinda shocked he would care about your shoulders being covered.
Other option is to just not listen to him. It's not like he's going to walk away from the wedding on the day of! You can always have a little shawl just in case, but try not to wear it.

can you convince him that your veil will cover your shoulders? i had a very long veil and it covered me completely

I felt the same way, I didnt want to be covered up, but I had no choice. We had a Orthordox Rabbi, so I had even more religious cerermony.
I actually have a bolero for sale that I wore ONLY for the ceremony. It wasnt too bad. It didnt cover my dress at all. Theres a pic in my For Sale album.
