Got engagement pics...don't love but already signed

I am a little bummed here. I took my engagement pics....and I don't really love them. Now that I have seen other people's creative pictures I am worried that I am going to hate my photographer and my wedding pictures.

Any idea what I should do??? Think it would help if I requested a different photographer for my wedding day then the one who shot the engagement pics?? But then again....I don't know how good or bad the next person will be.

Suggestions?

I would go to the studio and let them know you werent thrilled with the epics and ask to see albums to see which pics you like and then find out which photographer took them so you can request to have that photographer shoot your wedding.

I would pay for the engagement photos and book a new photographer for the wedding. What company did you use? I would def let them know your not happy with the photos.

I had the same problem. I decided that these are the most important pics that i'll ever have to take so a great photographer is crucial. I started looking for a different one. I felt horrible because i kinda liked the first photographer, but this is my wedding we're talking about.

you have plenty of time to book another photographer..

dont feel bad about cancelling if your not happy. This is your wedding,,,and you have to be 110% sure that you are confidnet in your photographer!!!!

Thats the main reason for engagement pix's..as a test shoot or the real day..

I hated my engagement pics as well. I changed photographers because I saw Duet's work and realized that's what I wanted for about half the price. I lost my deposit with my original photographer but it was all worth it in the end.

I picked up the proofs and I am going there on Saturday to get my enlargement so I'll decide what I am going to do by then.

I signed a package deal with photography/videography/limo and dj. So if I break the contract....I may have to see what happens to the other services.

I am hoping that I can see books of others work and request new engagement shoot with a difft photog.

I am just nervous....I feel nauseous. I'll put up the picks. Keep in mind....what you see are actually the best of the proofs...there were some that I just won't show.

I think a photographer should know how to hide flaws. Like pose us so that my big ol' belly isnt sticking out. LOL

I used Ariana Studios and the Wedding Plaza in Floral Park.

what if you took them at a differentl location? The location has alot to do with it...

I saw the e-pics. I see why you arent too thrilled. I mean I dont think they are horrible or anything but they could definately be alot nicer. Maybe you should look into other companies like other posters suggested.

I can ask that too....but when they were taken, I wasn't given an option. I was told what time to show up at the studio and they placed us in front of a background and snapped away. It seems they had many scheduled that day and I was just one of many.

yeah- beside your smile (which is beautiful) they seem to definitely be missing something.

I used 12th night and am very happy. they are not very $$, but they do great work. they are ala carte, but will also put together a package for you, and Dominic is a dream to work with.

Your pictures are certainly not terrible, the photographer just seems to go for those 'classic' shots...there's spontaneity missing from the shots and they're sort of void of emotion since they're posed. It's great that you know what you like and what you don't...speak to them and ask if you could have someone who's a little less traditional and more photojournalistic. The worst they could say is no...then take it from there. Good luck!

ETA...I also used Twelfth Night...and LOVED THEM! Some pics here...;0)

Thank you....so sweet. I will look into them and some of the others that were suggested.

Your pictures look beautiful. I just felt 'uncomfortable' when taking mine. Very stiff.

I am just so upset....I thought everything was done, signed and settled......so this is a bit un-settling.

Being able just to type a questions and get immediate answers is so amazing. Thanks everyone.

but that's just it...you dont look stiff. you both look beautiful and so happy and comfortable- but your surroundings don't add to that.

definitely talk to them and raise you concerns- maybe ask for a re-take of the pics to see if someone else will do a better job.

bottom line- YOU are the customer and THEY need YOU...get them to do what you want and are paying GOOD MONEY FOR! if they can't, find someone else....

I think location has a lot to do with the pics. I think you would like them more if they were outside. If they don't give you that option i would switch photographers. Ask them if you can re-do the e-pics.
