Got my computer back ~VENT!

So I finally got my computer back. Unfortunately the Geek Squad wasn't able to get rid of my virus without wiping out the whole computer. Fortunately my FH argued with them and they only charged me $50 to back up my files instead of $159. (Mind you I had already paid them $215 to get the virus out in the 1st place)
The real PITA is that I have to start from scratch with everything. The Geek Squad wiped out ALL of my programs! Needless to say I was super depressed yesterday. Yea...great they backed up my files but I can not open up my saved tests and quizzes because I don't have MicroSoft Word!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry for this long vent...I've just been super stressed with everything and didn't need this added stress....Soory vent over...

thanks Christine! I have felt sooo lost in the back 2 weeks without my computer! And now that I have it back it still ***** because I have to get everything back on it.

oh nooo!!! at least everything was backed up!

what virus did you have my computer has a virus too and i cant get it out so i was gonna go to the geek squad too

That does stink Anna, but try and stay positive. Atleast you didn't have to buy a whole new computer. Heres some hugs and hoping your days get better

I have no idea what the virus was...my virus protection had expired at the end of the summer and it just went crazy. I had lots and lots of pop ups everytime I went on the internet...and then there were problems with windows too.
Good luck with your computer...I hope they can get to the problem and they don't have to wipe yours out.

Ugh! I'm so sorry!!!

They did the same thing to my computer a while ago. The computers hard drive crashed (after less than a year), they had to put in a new hard drive and wanted to charge me to back-up my files (I was teaching at the time) and lost everythign. I ended up paying for the back-up.

this happens to me every 2 to 3 yrs right before my b-day!!! Like you said...thankfully I didn't have to get a new one...this one is only 2 yrs old...I got it for my b-day!

I know it sux! My photos are saved but I can't open then up with the Sony Cybershot viewer like I did before. I tried to import them back in but it didn't work.
