Got my RH and now what??? Can anyone recommend wedding planners??

I thought i would know what to do next but it keeps changing. I think I'm definitely going to need some major help. At the very least a DOC. Can anyone help with some recommendations/referrals?? I can feel my brain ready to pop!!!...

well a DOC will just help you the day of your wedding to help things go smooth and just a few touches before the wedding MAYBE, not all will do this, there are a few who will help you with a few things before...A wedding planner is one that will help you plan your whole wedding.

I think first you should focus on booking your major vendors.

Photo/video
Dj
Limo's
Flowers

Check out the inhouse vendors at your RH, see if you like their work, find reviews on them. If not look at other vendors...Girls on here are ALWAYS talking about vendors they are using, or asking questions about vendors they are interested in.

First check out your RH has a wedding planner or not before you spend mony on it. (well of course, if you have a lot of money, then it is a different story)

1) Check out the house vendors in your RH

2)Go so bridal shows, there are many vendors and you can check out their work.

3)check out the vendors in LIweddings and take a look of their reviews (My opion, their reviews for ref. only, don't judge it base on other brides' reviews)

Next thing you should do is to reseach your other vendors such as your florist, DJ/MC and photographers/vedio( I will think photographer first)

If you really want someone to help you out, the only person I know is Francesca Leonardini, she is the in house wedding planner in Jericho Terrace but she has her own business too I think she is very nice and helpful. Here is her infro:

- Dazzling Affairs
516 887 0199
272 Rider ave, Malverne, NY 11565

Good luck!

thanks ladies...my RH does not have a wedding planner. I have however looked at some of there prefered vendors. Im just gathering info right now on things i like/dislike and what each vendor offers. I was wondering though..say I selected things like RH,Photo, video, florists already...what would a wedding planner do at that point?

I guess i have some vendors in mind and am wondering if i get a planner after i have gotten some of these vendors if I would be 1) wasting money. 2) making it more difficult for the wedding planner?

well alot of people who do hire wedding planners go to an outside company bc they are actually with you more and do more things.

Well it depends, a wedding planner can help put the whole look together, if you dont know how to decorate the place and exactly what to do, they will help with the color scheme and designing everything. They also help do things for you, like pick up things, help with errands, help you with invitations and other things similar to that...They will take care of any problems that arise with any vendors, problems at the Rh or anything like that. Also they make sure you are staying within your budget and they stay on top of that...If they see you are going over they will finding less expensive alternatives for you

BUT like it has been said before, this depends if you have enough in your budget for a wedding planner, i would look around at prices first and see if you are comfortable with that.

Many people do hire wedding planners after they booked alot of their major vendors so that wouldnt be a problem...others also do it before bc a wedding planner has connections with alot of vendors and can get them at a lower price than you will be able to and know how to negotiate these things for you

You should (maybe you already have) decide your budget for each vendor. Then start looking online and calling vendors in your price range. Some major ones you will prolly need:

Photographer
Florist
Ceremony music
band/dj
videographer
Officiant

Decide which of these are a priority and apply more money to that. Often people make photogrpahy a priority becuase they are what you have to remember your day. Many people decide to cut budget with their flowers cus there are many ways to find them at a low cost and they eventually die.

Try going to wedding events. Check out fortunoff- there is one this week. Also on the 28th there is one at the fox hollow being held by Perfect wedding planner- who you could talk to about maybe helping you out if you decide to go with a planner.

Good Luck!!

I am also using Fran from Dazzling Affairs. She is extremely affordable considering how she really goes above and beyond for her brides. I have hired her only as a DOC but she also offers full planning services.

She really is fantastic and will be the only thing I miss about wedding planning!

Good luck
