I understand what you are saying. Some people are unable to make up their own minds and do the foot work, so they take your ideas and copy what you do. But your wedding is your day. Try not to let her bother you. I think you can do any color you want. Its you day do whatever makes up happy, bright colors or fall colors.

sorry...I feel your frustration......maroon or wine is a nice color for fall

That stinks! Personally, I don't believe in using fall colors because it's a fall wedding, especially if you don't care for them. My wedding is in September and I'm doing pink and black as my color scheme because those are the colors I like. Do whatever makes you happy, not what 'seems proper'. It's your day and it should fit what you like. I say go for the Tiffany blue and ivory; it sounds really nice.

Do whatever colors you like. If the weddings aren't in the same place and they aren't the same year...nobody will notice. I go to so many weddings that half the time I can't remember who had what. As long as you like it, that's all that matters!

That stinks.. I know it may be hard, but try to keep your ideas a secret. Also, my wedding is in september & I am having chocolate brown bridesmaid dresses with baby pink & bright pink flowers for the bouquets. I think it'll be fine if you have bright colors.

If you never discussed your ideas with her, how could she be stealing them? Maybe you just have the same tastes?

As for the colors - it really doesn't matter what season you are getting married in. Some people like to do 'appropriate' colors for the season, but honestly, nobody will care. I am not at ALL doing fall colors, and I have an October wedding. Just to give you an idea, here is a sampling of what will be in my bouquet (just add yellow lilies), and the color my bridesmaids dresses will be. Nothing falli-ish here, really!:

Unless she chooses the exact same dress as you, and the same bridesmaids dresses in the same color, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Your weddings will look different, especially if you're a year later.

And you can do any color in September. Yes, it's technically autumn in the later weeks, but mostly it feels like summer, right? I think aqua or turquoise is a lovely color. Didn't Martha Stewart Weddings do a feature on that color fairly recently? Hmmm. I have to go through my piles of old bridal magazines--yes, I've been buying MS Weddings for years even though I wasn't engaged--and I'll see if I can find it. You can buy old issues off eBay really easily, I just bought two from 1999 because one had a cake recipe I wanted, I found it mentioned on a chat board. Cost me $5.

What about teal? Teal is a beautiful color, and much more fall-like. It looks wonderful with rich colors like gold, and it's different. So many brides are doing aqua and Tiffany blue now. And with teal you could choose a more blue shade, or a more green shade. It also looks wonderful with purple or lavender. So rich! Wow, now I'm jealous, why didn't I do teal and purple...? (Because I'm having a spring wedding, that's why, and I just thought of it.) Teal dresses with purple flowers for the bridesmaids, your bouquet with lavender, maybe, and teal ribbons--i saw a David's Bridal dress with a teal blue sash, I'm pretty sure. I'll look!

Edit--yes, David's has a color called 'Atlantis' that's a gorgeous teal. Check it out. You could just buy a sash from them, and the bridesmaids dresses, or look around more (I've heard bad things about David's.)

I think you can still do gold even if she's doing it. You're going to have different bridesmaid dresses and different flowers etc. Or maybe if you tell her you changed your color she might copy you and you can secretly keep planning a gold theme. Also, no more sharing ideas with her!

Brown and baby pink is a really nice combo for the fall. So is brown and turquoise (sp?).

That really stinks that she's copying. Dont worry though--your wedding will be amazing!

I feel for ya, I really do I am having sort of the same issues, but nothing too extreme...but it really won't matter a year later, no one will remember, they will be in the moment of your awesome wedding!

PS I love chocolate brown! I might be biased cuz my girls dresses are chocolate brown as well as the napkins on my table (against ivory) but I think it is very classy!
