So tonight we were out to dinner for my fiance's uncle b-day when one of his cousins who is about 14 asked me if she could be a junior bridesmaid in our wedding I had no idea what to say. I told her our bridal party was a little full which doesnt even make sense. What is even more shocking about her question was that she never speaks to me. She can barely get together two letters to say hi to me when I see her but she wants to be a junior bridesmaid. Then she asked another cousin if she was in the bridal party. Which she isnt! It was so weird and arkward. Geez what a night! Gotta love it!

Re: gotta love it
I had the opposite experience, I asked my FH's cousin who is about 10 to be my jr bridemaid and she was soooo happy. Until then she and I never really talked much but now she loves me.

OMG!!! I think you handled that situation perfectly. Gotta love kids!! Hopefully that's all it was and not her mom trying to muscle her kids way into the BP!!!

Re: gotta love it
i think u handled it well, actually one of my friends asked me if she could be a bm, i just said 'i want even #'s and he has 4, so i can't add another' to witch she responded ' can't he just add one more?' I told her I'll ask (witch I'm not), but man, the balls!

You did handle it well. It is kind of cute really. She wants to be a part of your wedding, which I would take as a compliment.

You handled that really well. I don't know if her mom put her up to it. She prob just likes the idea of weddings and wants to be a part of yours. She's young, so maybe she's unsure of herself and that's why she doesn't talk much. I think it's cute that she wants to join your BP!

Re: gotta love it
I don't know, I've had kids ask me if they are going to be in my bridal party also, but yonger like between ages 4-10. And I think they only asked because they found out other kids where in the bridal party, so they were like 'Am I gonna be in your wedding?' It breaks my heart to hear this, but I can't have all these kids in my wedding... C'mon on now! But they are younger, at age 14, she should know better (one would hope). You handled it well and I would just try to forget about it... There is nothing else you really can do.

Re: gotta love it
Thanks ladies! I wasn't sure if I handled it well. I mean what can you say. I don't think her mom put her up to it since we are already having their twin two year old brothers as our ring bearers and their older son (19) as an usher. Her mom actually told her that she thought enough of their family was in the bridal party. But I agree at 14 she should know better. I had wished someone would have told her that you really shouldn't ask people that. But what can you! When it comes to planning a wedding nothing shocks me anymore. I am more surprised when people dont voice their unnecessary opinion.
