gown alterations

gown alterations

I bought my dress form Kleinfeld's, but decided not to let them do the alterations because it would be way too expensive. Even the sales woman said to go to someone else.

Any suggestion of where I can go? When should I go for my first fitting?

Thanks!

I would certainly try the bridal building 1535 Broadway, 8th floor. I believe they may do alterations.

Also, I would do a search for seamstress - you may find someone who's a lot cheaper.

I hope this helps.

I am also having a problem getting my gown altered. Most places won't alter your gown unless you buy it from them... I heard that there is a good place in Manhattan called Threads. I may just use my tailor.

Shoreham Bridal will alter a gown bought elsewhere as will Bridal Suite in Huntington (at least that's what both told me on the phone).

Re: gown alterations

This is going to sound weird but I mom is a dressmaker that works out of the house. (kinda weird trying to sell your mom to people) But after years of working in Designer dress botiques she decided that she liked working out of the house better since she can make her oen hours and take as much time as she needs or wants with each person. She is located in Hicksville and loves working on Bridal gown. She actually made her dress for my sisters wedding 8 mths ago. So if anyone wants the phone # you can FM me and you can call her for an appointment.
