I had a $100 cap - thank goodness, because a hem alone cost $75 at the shop I was at.

Mine was $312.00, all lace and detail around the bottom of dress had to be taken up and sides taken in.

But because my bridal shop went out of business, I got all the money back.

gown alterations - cap?

A cap is like a limit. If you are given $150 cap on alterations, then the total bill for them cannot surpass that price. If all you needed was a hem and that was $75, then you only have to pay the $75.
It is a good idea to negotiate a cap if you can because the alterations can get pricey.

There is only one cocktail room. The party that uses the upstairs for the reception gets the cocktail room while the party using the downstairs room for the reception would use the upstairs for the cocktail hour.
