my gown is completely lace and beads and i need to get it shortened. i am going to a place in a week and they mentioned that it may be costly depending on the detail of the dress....i expected this, but doen anyone know what 'costly' alterations are for a wedding gown. like i said, it has a lace overlay and would have to be shortened by the bust line. any opinions would be great! thanks!

Are you getting it altered where you bought it? I am and I have a $150 cap on alterations.

I am thinking somewhere in the $400-500 range. But I have no basis for this amount at all.

my cap is at $225, plus a $75 bustling fee.
This includes sewing in cups & such, not just the fitting-type alterations.
