My gown came in last week from David's Bridal and they told me to keep it in the plastic. But my mom and I aren't so sure. I am getting married on May 22, 2010. Does anyone know what the best way is to keep my dress from turning yellow? Thanks!!

Re: Gown Help
Hi!! I just bought my dress from David's!! They told me to put a white sheet over the dress and keep it in the garment bag unzippered 6 inches.
HTH!!
I just saw you dress in your profile--I was going to get that one, it's beautiful!! I ended up getting the other Oleg Cassini dress with the beading on the bodice and not the train!

I'm not exactly sure about how long you need to keep your dress in the plastic covering but I just wanted to say your dress is beautiful!

Re: Gown Help
your gown won't turn yellow in the short amount of time. Yellowing is usually from sweat, if you haven't danced in your dress it should be fine. Also, yellowing usually takes years, sometimes decades. If you are worried about it, you could buy a breathable garment bag, but it really should be fine. Just don't play with it!

Re: Gown Help
wrap it in a white sheet and keep it out of sunlight.
That way the dust won't dull the color. and the light won't change it either.

Thank you so much everyone! My mom is getting upset that it came in so early and getting worried that it will turn yellow by my wedding day and in turn she has been thinking crazy lol

Re: Gown Help
Keeping it in a garment bag in addition to the plastic should keep it safe. My dress came in January and I keep it just like that in the closet and so far so good.
