I am having the hardest time trying to find a wedding gown with 3/4 sleeves. I called sooooo many places and they don't carry them.
My mom thinks I'm crazy for even thinking about buying a gown without trying it on first.
What do you think?

Re: Gown Opinion
Did you try a dress that comes with a 3/4 jacket? They can make them to match the dress. At least you can get a feel of how it looks.

Re: Gown Opinion
I agree with the jacket idea. Or maybe even gloves or something to make up for the sleeves??
I would never buy a gown without trying it on first for the simple reason is that you may love it on the hanger or on the model but it may not look right on you. You are spending a lot of money on this and you want to be comfortable and love it!!

Definitely try the gown on and I agree with the other girls, they definitely can make a little 3/4 sleeved jacket for you to wear.

Re: Gown Opinion
Crashing - A friend of mine got married a couple years ago and had sleeves added to her maggie dress.
I am sure a seamstress can add 3/4 length sleeves to a dress. I'm not really sure why no one mentioned that to you yet when you've called. Either way, good luck!!!!!
here is her dress:

Re: Gown Opinion
Definately do the best you can to try on any dress before you buy. The first dress I fell in love with was. My #1 dress. It couldnt be touched by any other dress I looked at. I planned my whole wedding around having this dress...until I went and tried it on! I dont think it was even zipped up all the way before I said 'Ick...nope...take it off' The dress I untimately picked I would have NEVER picked just looking at it in a magazine or on the racks. But when I put it on?!?!
With the sleeves, like someone else said seamstresses do amazing things with wedding dresses. They shouldnt have a problem adding sleeves.

THANK YOU girls so much!!! I really appreciate everything you all said!
I actually called a wedding gown store today in NJ and they have a couple of 3/4 sleeve gowns in stock!! I couldn't believe it. I think I am going to make an appointment for next weekend and go with my mom!!

Re: Gown Opinion
I agree with all the other girls, you HAVE to try on the dress. It could look awesome on the website or on the hanger...and then just fit all wrong on you!
I would also opt for a jacket...personally i hate 3/4 sleeves cause they feel funny on my...but a jacket could be taken off if you get too hot while dancing the night away!

Re: Gown Opinion
Have you searched for orthodox dresses?? There is a store in Hewlett/Woodmere/Cedarhurst that specializes in having dresses with sleeves - 3/4 and full and I've seen them on the mannequin in the window and they are STUNNING. I'm pretty sure the store is on Broadway, HTH!

Sorry - I just saw this. She got her dress at Lillette's in Bellmore and yes, she did alterations there!

Re: Gown Opinion
I fell in love with a dress that I couldn't try on and that and the fact that the price was 3x my budget made me really think 'WHAT AM I CRAZY'!
What if you love it in the picture but it just does not hug you in the right places?
The bridal consultant who told me about the dress on the phone actually said they would NEVER Advise a bride to buy a dress without trying it on....
