I notice a few of you have gone dress shopping and I was curious...
How long are places telling you to order in advance? I get married in March of 08 and figured I didn't really have to look until at least April of 07. Is this not true??

Re: Gown question
Well the lady that helps my friend and I with our dresses said to order it 8 months before. Because she doesnt want us to rush. But it's usually 6 months before. Depending on if ur getting married in peak season

Re: Gown question
i think it depends on the designer. The girl told me it takes about 8 months to come in.

Re: Gown question
It depends on the dress. Some dresses can take up to 12 months to come in. So you really should look earlier and if you really like something that takes that long you can order it then.

Re: Gown question
I'm getting married July of 08 and I'm ordering my dress as soon as possible. I do not want the dress to be discontinued.
Also I wanted to add that...I was eavesdropping the other day at the shop and this girl ordered her dress that day Tuesday the 26 and her first fitting isnt till April. SO I guess it takes a while for it to get delivered or they may be swamped and are booked up.
I dunno I'm just guess about that

Thanks ladies! In other words, I should stop swinging by the bowl of Hershey Kisses at work!

Yes I stopped the other day...that is so funny. I keep picking at food and I am trying on dresses ffor the first time today.
Did anyone cry when they tried on their dress?

Re: Gown question
I ordered my dress in March 05, it came in April 06-wedding was June 06. I think it all depends on the designer and how quick their turn around time is.

Re: Gown question

Re: Gown question
i will HOPEFULLY be ordering my dress in TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wanted to wait for the Spring 2007 stuff to come out but i have narrowed down my dress choices and i want the dress to be ordered one year in advance
all of the dresses are Jasmine - and i was told to order at least nine months before a friend of mine was told a year before for her designer. . .
my advice is this: if you can wait for another season of dresses to come out ( Jan and Aug) then do that - i mean I cant wait until after August bc that is cutting it too close - but now i have seen the Spring 2007 dresses and i wont regret getting it so early. . .
of course you can always find another dress you love out of nowhere but i have looked through SO MANY of the new dresses i am pretty confident in my choices!
even though last night i threw one more dress into my choices that is the COMPLETE opposite of all the others LOL
