Gown Question?-Weight Loss

Gown Question?-Weight Loss

To any brides or future brides who have had their first fitting....how much of a weight loss affects your dress fitting properly? I am a street size 10, can fit into some size 8 clothing, and they ordered me a size 12 dress. I've already lost a few pounds since ordering and plan on losing more (I hope.)
I'm just concerned w/ having to have major alterations done and throwing off the lines of the dress.

I don't think they ordered my gown yet from the manufacturer, so maybe I can ask them to order the smaller size?

So confused as to what to do, please help!

I was in the same boat as you. I'm also the same measurements as you and they advised me to order my dress larger (size 12) rather than a smaller size. It's alwasy easier to take the dress in then to take it out. You have so much time, that I wouldn't sweat it. I was so afraid of this too that I actually waited to buy my dress six months before.

Don't stress, you have tons of time.

You're right, I'd rather it be big than too small....I just called and it was already ordered and she said they take in dresses 2 sizes all the time and it doesn't ruin the lines at all.

I feel better, thanks!

You're definitely better off with a dress that is too big than too small. I would leave it at 12. That way, if you gain any of it back between now and then, you're not stuck. I'm the same as you, generally a 10, ocassionally an 8, but I got a 12 gown.

You could also look at the dress manufacturer's website for their measurements. The dress ordered for you should correspond to the largest measurement taken of bust, waist, hips.

You can ALWAYS take a gown in. There's a lot less room for letting one out. Stick with the larger size. If you have a good seamstress it shoudnt be a problem
