Are these dealers selling legit gowns? I saw on another thread there was a question about Maggie Gowns, and I was wondering what the deal is. If Store X sells Maggie #1234 (made up number) but they aren't an official vendor, is it a real dress, or a copycat?
TIA

I would care...if they are selling a copy for the price of the real thing, why not just buy the real thing... I would never pay the price of something authentic for a rip off copy...just cant do it...

totally agree but if it were a very close knock off at substantial savings I wouldnt mind as long as they were honest about the knock off

Re: gown sellers not listed on manufacturer website
Chances are that if the designer is not on the website, the salon is not a registered vendor for those gowns and they are probably some kind of rip-off.
Even if the gown comes in perfect, the salon is still lying to you and probably pocketing the money you spent on the dress b/c you pay for a $1000 dress and they got you a copy that they paid about $200 for.
IF you're in doubt, call the manufacturer directly to verify.

Re: gown sellers not listed on manufacturer website
can you argue with a bridal salon if they arent listed on the manufacturers website? like over price? b/c how would you even know if the certificate they are giving you is real?

But if you tried the dress on and liked it and the quality enough to buy it, i just dont see what the problem is.....?

my problem is that they are LYING which isnt right AND because a knock off should be alot cheaper than an authentic.....you wouldnt pay $300 for a Coach bag in Chinatown - you'd pay like $30

Re: gown sellers not listed on manufacturer website
my concern is I dont want to fall in love with a dress and pay 1300 for it when it isnt authentic, and may not be the same quality when it arrives. Plus, if there is a problem with the dress, and the manufacturer has no record of your order, what recourse do you have to get it repaired or corrected in time?

Re: gown sellers not listed on manufacturer website
I would call up the manufacturer to see if that store is authorize to sell their dress. Maybe they just became a distributor and the website isn't updated. Sometimes bridal salons change names too.
