Graceful or Clumsy

Original post by MonkeyLuv

Do you float on air when you walk? Is every movement poised and artistic?

Or...

Do you clomp around like a clydesdale perpetually picking yourself up off the ground only to step ankle deep into puddles?

I'm so clumsy DH has offered to buy me a helmet.

And I'm actually worse when I wear flats or sneakers than I am when I wear my 'big girl shoes'. I think I pay attention more when I have heels on than when I am in comfy shoes.

I am somewhere in between. Some days I have it all together and every movement is full of grace and elegance. Other days it is best I stay in bed.

As far as shoes in sewer grates, I had a friend do this and I think it has nothing to do with grace and all to do with common sense. You are walking around NYC, wear more practica shoes. You are strolling through a garden, wear kitten heels in any color that suits your fancy.

Juliet, I beg to differ! Strolling through a garden is not easy to do with kitten heels...especially if clumps of dirt keep getting trapped around that cunning little heel, causing the heel to become slightly uneven and your 'stroll' to become a staggering tumble of embarrassment.

Another time, I was walking across a ball field in flip-flops and there was a huge muddy spot that I didn't notice until my feet started making that suction-cup noise. I tried to hurry out of it, but my left flip-flop got sucked into the mud, never to be seen again. So if anyone happens to find a baby-blue flip-flop- in size 6 at Eisenhower Park sticking up out of a field... that's mine.

You crack me up so much, I love to read your posts!

Something like that tends to stick out in your memory!

When I was 12, I fell into the water at the Bumper Boats at Adventureland.

When I was 5, I got my head stuck in the railing of a flight of stairs at my public library.

I blame my clumsiness on my mother, who was banned, banned y'all, from a ballet class at the age of 9.

I took ballet lessons until I was 18. Didn't help.

What the heck was your head doing in the railing at the library?
I also had a book case fall on me, but we blame that on Dad's poor carpentry skills.

Getting stuck... obviously!!

I had a dresser fall on me, granted I was climbing on it at the time...

And I somehow got pinned under a TV and rocking chair.

I was actually referring more to a public garden with a concrete path

I do think shoes are something you should chose for the occasion. Like spike heels and daisy dukes are not appropriate for a trip to the Bronx Zoo.

oh, I've done the shoe stuck in the mud thing too....but luckily, I found my shoe......

Here's another one - When i walk down the stairs, I have to look AT the stairs, or I lose my balance and trip...anyone else???

Oh yes. And if there is a railing available I'll push little old ladies out of the way so I can use it!!

And I have an uncanny ability to trip UP stairs as well.

After 13 years of ballet classes you'd think I'd be more graceful than I am.

I hate when I do this!!! I'll be running up the stairs and trip over the step!

Juliet...ooooh, those gardens!

Lori, I have to use the railing, like Lorsin, otherwise face-planting is a certainty.

I trip up stairs very frequently.

Has anyone else walked into glass doors?

Actually I cannot look AT the stairs. If I do then I get unbalanced and fall. I have to look straight ahead! And I have to hold on.

I trip uo the stairs more frequently than down the stairs.

I think I'm graceful, I rarely trip or anything.

I was going to say clumsy but after eading everyone else's post.....I guess I really am not clumsy.

Not that I am graceful by any means, I guess I am just, dunno, 'normal'?

Most duh thing I ever did (I think): In 2nd grade I got a pencil eraser stuck in my ear, had to go to the Dr. to get it out. My brother couldn't understand, said I was way too young to need to erase any memories yet!
