Do you work in the city or out in LI? I know that the UFT offers courses that can be takemn over the weekend and vacation.
Certain colleges offer online courses too. I know Queens Collge does, but not many. They offer a lot ovee the summer. You are probably better off art a private school though. Cuny is a pain the but!
Good Luck!

Literacy (reading) is good for any teacher to have a degree in.

Re: Grad School Help!!!!
Yes, I would say literacy or speech pathology... you could also get soemthing like administration or leadership. you could also get a Masters in Math or social studies or another subject area. Technology/computer ed. is a big one now.
but i wouldnt' just pick a degree just to get one. you shoudl be passionate about the area and be excited about it. you have 5 years to get it after your initial certification, so i would relax and really think about what you want it in and not choose something just to have something.

I know I shouldn't just pick a degree but I am so undecided. I think I might wait a little more. I don't know if the SPEECH PATHOLOGY internship will be difficult to do while I am teaching.
--- Oh and I do mean St. Joseph's

I'd say go for ESL...they are in such need right now...I have ECE and its gotten me nowhere b/c elem & ECE are a dime a dozen. I went to Hunter, they had night classes & even online classes.

Getting a master's degree in speech language pathology is a FULL TIME job. I don't suggest doing that along with teaching.

Re: Grad School Help!!!!
I am an ESL teacher and I would recommend getting yoru MA in ESL. Stony Brook has a great MA TESOL program that I highly recommend. Also, you could get your MA in the MALS program at Stony Brook, which I did. Online classes....easy. I am working on my SDA at Stony brook now for Administration, and it is a great program, so interesting, but you need a previous MA to enter the program. If you want more infor Email me!
